just would like some feedback from you all...
Seller started at 5995, came down right away to 5500. I offered 4000. He came back & said that was lower the the shop would give him outright; I countered w/ 4500, based on both NADA & KBB info....
It's a 2000 T, with 14K miles... He adds it has Cobra light bar, Jardine pipes, "and a carb kit," he says that makes "better sound & better fuel economy."

What you all thinking? I'm on the chat now w/ dayguy....

Jeff....based on my buying experience from last year, I would tell you that $4500 is a good offer. I wouldn't go higher than $5K. At $5 its got to be really really good and you've got to really want it.

I might go along with the Jardines making the bike sound better but I wouldn't necessarily go along with the statement of better fuel economy. Tourer's put up for sale a lot. Are you overly anxious and can't wait. You could keep looking and something else WILL come up. Good luck whatever you do.

Hey Alepel; so sorry we missed you on the chat! Me n dayguy just got on , and say you as you logged off, didn't even know you were there, til you signed off!
So, had a great discussion w/ dayguy, Thanks for the Thoughts!!!
Mainly I need to keep my lust in check!!
As I've been having a few problems lately, & not even been on my ride in about a month now, am having serious withdrawals!
I sort of "imagine" if I like my old ACE so well, it would be natural that I'd love the T. The seller seems very honest in saying that the bike is not perfect, but he's not anxious to sell, & there are only 8 T's in the usa for sale; a couple are priced at 4K, the rest are over 5K, & his has low miles....

My wife has actually suggested spending more on a newer bike (THANKS MY LOVE!), I just don't wanna go into debt; also, not even sure at all what bike I'd like as much as my old ACE! What can compare!
I want the comfort, & better gas mileage... that's all I ask..... so, other suggestions? (and of course, low-ish price

Jeff without a doubt you will have comfort with the Tourer. I don't necessarily think that you will get that much improvement over your current Shadow. I know that you have taken some really great trips out west and I would think that if you are looking for a new ride you might want to get a bike with longer range than the Shadows give. I understand the debt part.

I will say this much. I went from an 88 Shadow VT800 to the Tourer and it was the difference between night and day. I use to drive my 800 and now I ride the T. I am perfectly happy with the T and I can't imagine owning any other bike. I'll ride the T until the end.

I don't think you'll get better mileage out of the T vs. the Ace. Maybe the same or less. I know that the Spirit and Sabre get in the upper 40's stock......and my T got around the lower 40's stock. The T is geared a little lower to accommodate the extra weight. The biggest advantage the T has over the Ace VT1100 is the locking hard bags and the rubber mounted engine.

The Ace is a single crank pin motor if I'm not mistaken. That alone will make you love the "T" a little more!

c'mon rick,
my aero is a single pin and i love it....at least the sound. the roadhouse 2-1 really give it a nice rumble, BUT, i'm thinking serious about taking them off and putting the stock back on. just like the looks of the stock much better.
another forum i was on this morning, guy had sent his stock pipes off and had them re-done by this place..... and said he just loved the sound. they are fully adjustable.

nope, I emailed what I'm thinking was "one last time" at a shot for the 4500; I actually found 12 Tourers listed, Thanks Much to you guys here on the HSATF (Thanks Gr8scott!), As I recall, I took 2 out of the picture, the only 2 that were more than 6K asking price (1 was 6995!!), Anyhow, average of the other 10 came in at between 5 and 5500 dollars (asking), and a vast majority had lots more "stuff" than this one did, & the description on a few was "pristine," "mint," and "excellent condition." This seller told me "it's not perfect...."

Anyhow, I'm currently investigating the VTX; So far, I'm liking the 1300, just for apparent better MPG, but that's up for debate/discussion....

I just don't think I'll hear back from this seller....

I like the ACE and the T's bothe mostly because of the styling, you wouldn't believe how many people come up to me and tell me they like my bike (or maybe you would).
Most people mistake it for a H(undred) D(ollar) bike and mine is just the ACE... I would love to find a T in my area for sale, if anyone knows one for sale in the Memphis area
let me know.
