HSATF Member Posts: 15 04/11/08 1:47 AM	Tags : None I just recently stumbled upon this forum, and really like what I see. I do have a question for you guys... First, let me inform you that I used to be a strict HD only kind of guy until I rode my friends Shadow. I am a shade-tree mechanic when it comes to Harley's, and I have to admit that the thought of working on a Honda is a bit intimidating seeing that I have only ever worked on HD. I am up to the challenge, but the radiator is really what intimidates me. Onto my question, I guess... I want to change out / do something with the stock pipes on this 2002 Honda VT750 A.C.E. that I am about to purchase from a guy I know. What would be the cheapest way for me to do this? I was thinking about boring out the baffles, but was unsure on whether or not I would have to re-jet the bike? If I was to replace the OEM pipes, then what would be some really nice suggestions on giving me a more manly sound? Right now it sounds more like a sewing machine. I love the bike, but the only thing I am having trouble getting past is the lack of a throaty rumble to my bike. Any suggestions? Thanks for anything you guys might be able to help me with.

HSATF Tail Gunner Posts: 86 04/11/08 10:17 AM	Any time you adjust the output you have to compensate the input Honda Harley, main differance from what I see is the cooling water vers air if you can work on one you should be able to work on the other. I'd say one you get into it you find there isnt a lot of differances as both bikes work basicly the same

Sounded like a lot of hogwash to me, if you know what I mean. I was always taught that if you modify one thing you will have to adjust another. Thanks for the input.

If you drill down further in some of the same topics you'll find several testimonials where rejetting was not necessary for some, but was necessary for others. It kind of a crap-shoot. HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 3747 04/11/08 6:24 PM	I owned an '01 VT750 Ace before buying my T. It had the Cobra staggered drag pipes on it when I bought it. The previous owner had installed Cobra baffles into the pipes because they were too loud, and this gave the bike a nice deep throaty mellow sound w/o being harsh or too loud. The bike ran great but did have a little deceleration pop/cackle when gearing down in the hills. Dealer recommended shimming the needles instead of a re-jet because a re-jet would greatly lower fuel economy w/o that much improvement in performance. If you add a K&N air filter, then you will definitely have to re-jet. We put a set of Jardine mufflers on my son's VT600 VLX Honda that also sounded great. Well seeing that I ride to and from work on most days, I would like to keep the fuel economy where it is, if not improve it I was looking at some Jardine set ups, but also stumbled across some homemade sets. I will play around with a few things, and let you know how it turned out. Thanks again. Damon
