Well , a friend of mine accidentally hit my bike the other day . This helped me to make a decision I have been thinking about since we decided to keep the T
for our bigger bike . I am going to have the T painted . I am not sure what colors to use , but I am fairly sure I want some old school flames like the old
50's hot rods had . My painter wants to go with a satin black , but I am not really sure I want to go that far with it . I really like bright shiney items
, and am not real sure how I feel about the idea of flat black on my bike . If it were an old coupe I would be right there with him , but not sure about the
idea for my T . I have added a folder full of flames to my profile , these are all paint jobs that caught my eye . I am open to suggestions for what would look
good , but really want to stay with the retro concept and stay away from the tribal flames and more modern designs . So , what colors would you use ? Here are
a few pics of my favorite flames so far , but I do not intend to simply copy someone else's ride . Just ideas . There are more in my profile .

I had already made a reply in "new member introductions" http://hondashadowacetourer.yuku.com/topic/7555 before I realized you had this one started. The top one
here is too busy for my liking and sort of takes away from the flames lines. The bottom one looks too much like the factory Honda Sabre flames kit. I'm
just a sucker for the simple old school flames, I guess. And solid colors are better than multi-colored flames, also. You can view hundreds of custom hot rods
on the link I provided in the post above.

yuck on the boat paint (large metal flake). personal pet peeve of mine. boat paint belongs on boats.
ghost flames would be my choice. subtle but custom. keep in mind the T will have a lot of surface area to show the pattern. try to avoid a pattern that will look too busy. I think that first one is too busy.

I think the top one would look great on the type of bike it is on , but might not be so good for the T . It is on a set of tins for a chopper and probably
looks great all put together . I kinda like the gold flake flames , reminds me of Indian Larry and his old school bikes . I am not sure it would look as good
on the T as it does on his old bobbers though . That seems to be the main question at hand here , what best suits the style of the T ? I am not really a fan of
the ghost flames , I really want a nice color contrast .

There is a hot rod in the link provided by Stan that has the mint green / teal color like the stock T for a base coat . It has flames in a really nice royal
blue . Really a good look . I also saw one in there somewhere that had a burgundy base with retro multi color flames that was pretty cool . This is not going
to be an easy choice , the more I look the more I see that I like . But none of the colors seem to be what I am really looking for .

If I were going to stick with an old school flame job, I would have to just go with a high gloss black background. To me, that is what "old school"
is all about.
Of course, bright yellow with traditional flames is also "old school". I am a real fan of ghost flames. I am, tentatively, planning a Ford F6 (Dark metalic Laser Red) paint job with ghost flames for my trike rebuild. -Dan |

When I first started thinking about flaming the T that was my first thought , gloss black with flames . Then I started looking around online some and now I am
not sure what color I want . There are alot of really good color combinations that still look retro . I really like ghost flames as well , but for the T I
think a retro style will better fit the image of the bike .

I was planning a spider web paint job on my T (Elvira) before this trike thing happened. Now I'm going to have to wait a while for the bike paint.

I really like the bottom one too , but it is not really an old school design . This is one of the few more modern paint designs I think would look good for the
T though . I am not really into alot of the newer designs , but this one has a touch of classic design to it with the more modern single color fade .
Dan , info sent . Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help . Bag Rails Needed!!!!!!!!!!! |
