Are You a Putter or a Zipper? |
Lead | ||
|
My brother-in-law, owner of a Victory Tourer, and his wife have come to the Carolinas from California to visit with my wife and I for a few days. He asked me if I put or zip and told me he puts with his Victory while his wife zips with her Scion. I had to admit to him I am a Zipper. How about you? Do you put or zip?

Jim, by put, I meant putt. The question is, do you putt slowly through the countryside taking in the scenery and leisurely enjoying the ride, or do you zip quickly through the turns close to the limit of your ability experiencing the thrill of speed and lean, as in lean angle and G forces?

Thanks Fred, gotcha now. I am definately a putter then. Most of the time my favorite lady is with me so her comfort and safety are most important. Even by myself, I prefer taking my time and make the ride last as long as possible. I am a cruiser and love the experience of just riding. It's my comfort level.

Whew! Thanks for adding the extra T in there, Fred. For a minute there, I thought you were getting a little too personal, sexualy. Just kidding, I knew what you meant.
I'm mostly a putter, but also like to zip just to mix it up a little. Stan 1999 Ace Tourer (Silver over Black)

Fred....you had me with this one too.
But definitely a putter. Never zip. I too try to make my rides last just as long as possible. For me the old adage does not apply. "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line". I never take the shortest distance and I definitely never take the straight line. Alain |

I love to zip! I'll gladly putt when I'm in a crowd, but when I'm by myself, I can't get enough of that smooth split-crank V-Twin power!

Putter, simple as that. If I wanna zip, I will bet a small sport bike.

I like to putt, most of the time.
In the twisties, mountain roads, scenic byways, etc, I love to just cruise along enjoying the scenery and the engine sound. Where I love to "drop the hammer", is on long, straight, boring slabs of asphalt/concrete. Blasting down the straight away at full throttle is what get me pumped. I'm worse about it in my car. I have a Mustang that my wife almost refuses to ride in with me. I guess it's because my favorite sport is drag racing. I guess that might be concidered zipping. Don't know? -Dan

I putt with a big lean in the corners. Floorboards are for scraping. I get no thrill from straight line fast, I just don't slow down very much for corners.

Dan,
You sound like a Zipper to me, a straight Zipper. Scott, I'm with you. I rarely go fast in a straight line, but I have been known to speed-up when it comes to the turns.

I personally like putting . My favorite riding is on all of the back country roads out in this area where you can ride without any traffic around . I like to
just take it easy and relax when riding , but if I need to get somewhere I can zip at times . I have noticed that when out riding you see things you have never
noticed before , even in areas you drive all the time in the truck .

it definately depends on the bike I'm riding... on the T, I'm a putter. On either the CBR or the Nighthawk... I mostly zip.

Interesting Question-----
I am definitely a putter. It is all about the ride. At 50 now, my Zip days have long gone. Been very fortunate up to this time. No use rushing anything now. Trying to figure out that combination that slows time. More now then ever it seems time zips by. I Find no reason to Rush a ride. Curt------ |
