I added a page for my T to my website, but it will be a while before I can start on the teardown and mods. Too many other projects to complete at the moment,
and I want to get acquainted with the bike before I have to stop riding her during modifications!

I thought "Mermie" was a cool looking bike.

I'm sure gonna miss Mermie, as she was my first "down to bare bones" project. Adopting the T makes saying goodbye to Mermie a little less
painful.

Hi Bud, yeah, Dad is kind of proud of me *blush* - I've been through some bad stuff over the years and he's so happy to see me come out the other side.
I'm pretty proud of him, too...he's going to take the MSF course and is getting his first REAL motorcycle at 70+ years of age!
I'll poke through threads for Halfbreed's bike - this place is HUGE and it's taking me awhile to sift through old stuff. Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

Some comments: Going through "bad stuff" is OK. As long as you "go through". Winston Churchhill said "When you are going through hell, keep going." That is one of my favorite quotes. Kudo's to your dad. I plan on riding well past 70. If I don't, I won't get to ride much longer. I have been riding , off-and-on, since 1964. Just three weeks ago was my first accident. At that rate, I will not be due the next untill I am 99 years old. So, I will stop riding at 98. Just to be sure!! I need to ship one of my trikes to you and have it painted. That would give you a rather large canvas!! Stay around. I like you!!! -Dan |

will continue well into my life. Maybe not as long as Dan, but pretty close.

Dan, there isn't a day that goes by that I am not grateful to be alive. Getting back into riding was tough for me, but I am sooooooo glad that I did, it
brought back a lot of the old "me" that had been lost due to circumstances beyond my control.
I, too, hope to be riding for a very long time! Feeling just a bit maudlin today, as Mermie left for her new home last night. *sniff sniff* She represented a heck of a lot to me, but I'm glad that someone else will be able to enjoy her now, too. Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

alepel, I am a firm believer in the statement you made: "there are no coincidences in life"! Everything happens for a reason, the good, the bad...and
there is usually an awesome gift waiting for us on the other side of the bad! I have living proof, and if you read my blog on my site, check out my (edit: Feb.
7th entry) story of the dog and the "man" in my store - that was no coincidence.
Our new chapter? We are leaving for Malta in a couple of weeks (John has to oversee some work at their production facility there). John spent 3 years there, but I've never been across the pond, so I am understandably MEGA-EXCITED!!!! I finally get to meet his Maltese friends, and see ancient ruins, and paint those beautiful scenes, and yes...RIDE!!!! John's friend, Dingli, has a 600 Shadow for me to ride and a Sportster for John. Now I just have to get the hang of riding on the left side of the road!! LOL Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

"Now I just have to get the hang of riding on the left side of the road!! LOL"
You can do what they do when you rent a bike in the UK. They instantly know you're from "The Colonies" (they get a big kick out of my Texas drawl). When they bring the bike out, they had put a wide piece of masking tape on the tank, and marked an arrow on it with a marker. The arrow points left and they wrote "KEEP LEFT" under it. It's hallarious, but a little insulting!! -Dan
