With almost 10K on my T, I decided to change the plugs. All four were black, like it was running too rich. The plugs from the left cylinders did have some of
the light gray colot on the plugs. The bike has not been misfiring, though this spring, MPG dropped from 45 to 40. I wonder if I am leaving the choke on a
bit too long. with the engine cold, I crank it using full choke, idle for a minute at most, then ride 1/2 mile to the end of my road. Then choke off, and
motor along happily.
I didn't have a 18mm deep socket for use on the plugs, so I used the plug socket in the tool kit. I got all the plugs out without problem, but I did re-shape the other end of the plug socket. 3/8 socket too small, 1/2 socket too large, so I turned it using an adjustable wrench.
My question: will an 18mm deep socket (round in shape), fit into the opening on those two cylinders with hex-shaped opening, which works dandy with the tool kit socket?
