Hitch measurements |
Lead | ||
|
Looking to buy this hitch for the T and need to confirm thats it's for our Ace tourer.
If you lay the hitch with the area under the ball on a flat surface, the distance from rail end to rail end is approximately
28". The overall length, which includes the base of the ball, is about 4" longer. Center to center of the 2 top holes is 7-3/8". The inside
width nearest the ball end is 9-3/4". This describes it well enough, but I'm attaching a photo just in case.

Here is a picture of mine. What I can tell from the picture, it is the right hitch. I will try and get a few measurements later.

I'll gladly accept any words of wisdom about how to wire the T for lights because I haven't a clue

OK! Heres what I did!
First invest in the Hoppy isolator/converter #46255. This converter will make every thing on the trailer work great. It also is an isolator, so if you happen to get a short or any other problem with the trailer lights, it will not affect the bike. Sure don't want a short on the trailer blowing a fuse and knocking out all your lights on a dark country road somewhere! Seriously, get this converter! I removed the seat and all the wires you need to find are right there on top of the rear fender. I put a splice in each of these and wired in the converter per the instructions. I put the converter down behind the right side cover. You will not have to mount it just let it lay in the void there. Then you just plug in the wiring that comes with the converter and run it out from behind the cover and tie wrap it under the bag rail all the way back to the hitch. I probably didn't help much, but thats what I did!!! Goodluck Rick

Somewhere at some time or another someone told me that the hitch for an Ace was a little different than the T and carried a different part #. I don't
remember who it was, but this hitch certainly looks like the right one. It's still a bargain and if it did not fit your T, you could make a little money on
it if you wanted to.

Thanks guys. I'm 99% sure it's the correct hitch. The wiring advice will be heeded, thats one project I have not done on a bike yet. The isolator is
on the must get list.

Good advice Rick on the Hoppy isolator. It is a great idea to segregate the system like that. I did the same thing with no problem. Bob
