Thanks for sharing those pictures of the Cabot trail. My mother-in-law lives in Sydney, Nova Scotia which is located near the south end of the trail. I have driven the trail in my car many years ago and it was a beautiful scenic drive then. A couple of years ago when I was back in Sydney, I drove up the east side of the trail to a small fishing village of Chetticamp to visit an old friend and was treated to some of the best fresh crab the east coast has to offer.

If you get a chance to to drive the trail, travel counter clockwise heading up the east side of Cape Briton Island then loop around and back down the west side. This way, you will have the ocean on your right side all the way and the view will be much nicer ( kinda like driving the Oregon coast.. I prefer riding north to south so I can take in the ocean view on my right side.) If you can squeeze it in and your time allows it, take an extra day to ride over to Prince Edward Island and enjoy some of the best scenery Canada has to offer. Heck, I would love to fly back there, rent a bike and do it myself!

You can drive the trail in one full day as I believe it is only a couple of hundred miles but why miss the beauty by rushing. Take a couple of days, enjoy the ride, the maritime people ( who are fantastic by the way) and stop for some good seafood. This is a very popular area for tourists in the summer so make sure you do some pre-planning and make reservations at some of the motels or bed & breakfasts.

Great pictures BB. My wife is currently visiting her Mother in Sydney, Nova Scotia and both drove the Cabot Trail last Monday ( June 25). The weather was great and the scenery was spectacular. She will tell me all about it when she comes home on Friday the 29th.

On a side note, I don't knowhow you manage those long distance rides. Must be your youth as my back was starting to get a little sore just reading about all those miles you log!! Ahhhhh to be young again!!
