I'm going to call this post a "Cooling System" one but I don't really believe that is what I have. I've never read anyone having a
similar condition so this may be new to me and not you.
Let me set up the situation first. I was riding to Americade and got into some really heavy rain. Rain came down in buckets for about 30 minutes. We rode through it and out of it and continued for about another 60 miles. When we stopped for gas it had stopped raining and the pavement was dry. I filled my T with gas and pushed away from the pumps to have a soda break. When I came out of the mart a riding companion says to me my bike is pucking its guts out. I look and sure enough there is water on the ground and its still dripping. The puddle on the ground was about a 12 inch diameter.
The water coming out was clear however. I detected no antifreeze in the water and it had no smell to it at all. The interesting thing is it was dripping off the left side of the bike as it leaned on the kickstand. The dripping was coming from what I thought was the battery but not the batteries hose. I tried looking up into the bike to see the source and I could not tell where it was coming from. I even thought it was coming out of the muffler. I checked the coolant level and it appeared to be at the lower level of the resevoir. I was content with that. I really didn't think it was coolant but I could not be certain. Someone else suggested that rainwater somehow might have gotten trapped up in the bike and when I parked it on the kickstand it was able to drain out of where ever it was trapped. While I was riding it accummulated and somehow stayed there.
Well off we went and again we rode through some rain. Not as much as before but enough to where there was road spray. We stopped after 60 miles and damn if the same thing happened again. This time my mind started to play tricks on me and I thought I did see coolant in the mixture. I looked at the reservoir and it was still on the lower level. Again I could not see where the water was dripping from. After our break was over all the water that had leaked had evaporated. There was no residue on the ground. It was as if it was clear water that just evaporated.
I reasoned that I had no cooling problems. No temp warning and no coolant fan coming on. I figure it must just be rain water that somehow gets trapped up inside someplace and comes leaking out when you park the bike on the kickstand.
Anyone else had the same experience?
