What the evap canister for? |

What's the evap canister for? Does it need to be serviced or changed? I never even noticed it before, except the rubber cover tore off. I just glued it
back to the canister.

You must have a California bike. As for maintenance, I dunno, I live in Michigan.

Evap can collects gas fumes to keep the greenies happy. It holds it until the next time the engine is started and provides it back to the carburetor.
There should not be any maintenance requirements (check your manual), but I do recall the simple check for the evap can on cars was to shake it. If you could hear the charcoal shaking around like a can full of gravel, it needed replacement. Of course, all we ever did was throw it away and cap off the vent line with a breather.

I think it's just the time zone difference.
