J&M JMCB-2003 - Is this my only choice?

HSATF Member Posts: 46 10/29/07 4:17 PM	Tags : None All, Having recently got back to riding after a 20+ year hiatus, I find that I am riding with the same group fairly frequently two-up with our wives. Is the JMCB-2003 the only unit that will allow all of us to communicate, both with each other and the wives? If so, it seems that it is about an $800 touch for the units, cables, antenna, and headsets. This seems pricey, but does it work well? Any others with experience with these (or other) units? Posts: 1904 10/30/07 11:46 AM	Jeff, I tried a few different communication devices and really could not find one that works well. Most that are VOX activated tend to open a channel with wind or exhaust noise. Adjusting the VOX to fix this problem caused an un-natural conversation. I find I had to start talking to open the VOX then had to repeat the first few words. Was concentrating so much on the talking, I was taking my mind off the riding. Tried a Push-to-talk button but didn't like be wired to the bike. When my wife was riding her own bike, she didn't like the radio either. Her comment was "If I get in an accident, do you want the last thing you hear me screaming?". I found a couple of hand signals was all I really needed to communicate with the other bikes in my group. Some simple things like turning left, turning right, road-kill in the road, speed up, slow down and the raised middle finger seemed to cover most of my needs. As for communicating with my wife, we have a few simple signals: - A punch in the side means I did something wrong - A smack on the head means I did something wrong Andy
