Has anyone ever seen a T with a fairing? I really like the batwing fairing on the Harley. I don't want a more powerful bike necessarily, but I would like better wind management.

Jay,
I've seen a pic of a T with an HD batwing fairing. I can't remember if I saw it on this forum or another. If it was on this forum, it's been lost . It was a good fit, it's just not my cup of tea. I'm sure they probably do what they are supposed to though. Gary

There's been a few that used aftermarket bat wings on T's. I believe a T owner named Calvin did this. Added a topbox too. Hopefully the picture still exists in the member's bike section.
I toyed with the idea of mounting a fairing. Started to look for an old Vetter. Not sure if the mod would mess with the cooling system. By the time I would have modified the bike with a fairing and topbox I was going to have another couple thousand in my bike. A couple things I noticed. A bat wing, such as the fairing on Valks, HD's and Royal Stars are still fork mounted. The wind and gusts that toss the shield around will still have an impact on a bat wing. On the other hand a frame mount fairing like a Vetter or such will make the bike frame deal with the wind gust, yielding a smoother ride. A word of warning (or in the legal world, disclaimer). I started down this path Dec 2003. In March 2004 I sold my T and bought a wing. Andy |

If I had all that money, I'd get a Yamaha Royal Star Venture Classic. That bike with a goldwing's electronics would be awesome. Right now my head is getting beat around like a ping pong. I cut the part of the windshield off that goes below the turn signals. They were cracking. IT looks much better but not the wind rushing up past my fuel tank is terrible. The only other Idea I had is to bolt some lowers to the fork to direct the air away from the tank.

ElderJay, check out Rifle's lowers for the T. I have them on mine and they really help to reduce the updrafts. Their website does not show a picture of them on the Tourer but give them a call, they may still have them in stock.

there was a post about a T that had modified a fairing from a Harley Ultra Classic. He picked the fairing up at a salvage yard. The post said it took a couple of hours to install, but it looked real sweet when it was done.

Those are sharp. I wonder how much work to get them on. Are they Harley fairings? Wonder how much mileage they would cost me? I'll keep an eye out on Ebay, etc. Right now I have to find a good paint shop to do my tank. THanks for the great pics.

J, they are Harley batwing fairings. Targa is the manufacturer. Targa also made the fairing for the Valkryie Interstate. Their web address is: www.targa-acc.com/main_po...ch_nf.html .

Me too. There is a Electra Glide fairing on EBAY for $160 and I thought about getting it but, no mounting hardware, no windshield, etc. Just the fiberglass. That might be a good price, but I would still have to replace the rest. They have one for the 800 Nomad for $700. Don't know if that is a good price or not, but it's still a lot. That is gloss black with black hardware and a windshield. I can replace the missing shield for the FLH for $100, but don't know how much the hardware is.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Larry, I am sorry I don't know the answer to which Targa fairing was used. Remembering back I believe one of the T owners modified the supports for a Harley fairing. Have you tried contacting Targa to see what they recommend?
