Posts: 1575 09/29/07 10:20 PM	Tags : None John and I rode over to the Boss Hoss rally today, and yes, we took a test ride! After we got home and had supper, I decided to check the oil in the "T"! It was a little low so I removed the filler plug and added about a 1/2 pint. Replaced the dip stick and put the funnel away. That is when I had the brain fart!!!! I turned the lights out and started out. Wait, I need to move the "T" so my daughter can put the Mustang in the shop when she gets home. In the dark, I crank the "T" and something doesn't sound right!I lean over to look and get a face full of oil and oil all over my new Deals Gap shirt!!!!I must be really gettin old!!!!!!!! Is it raining? No...the dipstick forgot to replace the filler cap again...go in and change clothes, spend 10 minutes cleaning the oil off my glasses. Mumble under my breath as I go for a ride.

HSATF Tail Gunner Posts: 140 10/01/07 8:17 PM	It ain't just age. When I was much younger I changed the oil in my Pinto. Drained it, put on a new filter took the pan out from under the car. Was adding the second quart of new fluid when I noticed oil spreading on the garage floor. Well I had neglected (can't say forgot since I was not old enough to forget yet) to put the drain plug back in So I then had the thrill of cleaing up two quarts of oil from the floor in addition to going out to buy 2 more quarts of oil to finish the job. I still do my own oil changes.

Come to think of it, most of the Fords that I have ever owned came with this as std. equipment. During my street rodding days my buddies and I would breakfast together on a Saturday morning and then head out to the junk yards in search of wrecked Pintos. One of the most desireable components to us street rodders (and stock car racers) was the fexible steering column linkage between the steering wheel and the steering box. It could be flexed in an S to accommodate mis-alignments in the steering columns and/or obstructions that kept you from a straight line installation of the steering. It was also great for us street rodders who liked to use the old early style GM tilt columns married to a ford steering box. The Pinto flexible steering column linkage would mate to both without any modifications. I realized that I just ran away with this thread, but your discussions about Pinto's just invoked some extremely fond memories for me. alepel

I neer did drive it , my dad would not allow me to park it at the house . I eventually sood it to a friend of mine and bought my dream ride , but that's another story . Bag Rails Needed!!!!!!!!!!!
