I have owned the T (two of them in fact), and have spent some time on my friends VTX1300C. Both are very smooth running and agile in the turns. Fuel mileage is about the same, but the VTX has a little more pep to it.

There are still lots of new and used parts available for the T. There were many of them built and therefore used parts should be plentiful for quite some time yet. However, it does seem that more and more manufacturers of after market parts are discontinuing production of accessories for the T specifically. Cobra is currently the only source for new light bars and floorboards. Protac is the only source for drivers backrests now without buying a Corbin or Mustang seat with one built in, and Vance & Hines is the only source for new exhausts. That's not to say that there won't be new old stock parts still available from dealers on ebay occasionally, but you have to take into consideration that you will have to have patience waiting for them to pop up. It's all about what your priorities are in relation to what you want in a bike.

The VTX1300, on the other hand, has many parts and bling available. If you want hard bags, then Corbin has color matched bags that look perfect on the VTX bikes. They are not cheap, but are direct bolt on's and there is no paint work to fool with. I know that you said that the VTX you were looking at had saddle bags already on it, and I assumed you were talking about soft bags, but thought that I would bring to your attention that there are options if you really want lockable hard bags on the VTX.

On a personal note, I just sold my T and regret that I had to. But, if I were to go after another V-twin with hard bags it would be the VTX1300F with Corbin Beetle bags and a touring type seat with both front and rear backrests.

Nothing wrong with the T at all, except for locating stuff for it. Gets a little frustrating at times because there are a dozen others looking for the same things and that drives the prices up. I personally like the sound of the VTX more and it runs just as smooth as the T. That and the availability of accessories for the newer VTX is endless. I really liked the look of that VTX1300F with the Corbin bags that was parked at our motel last summer during the Hoot. I said to my self then that if I ever decided to move onto something else besides my T and Wing, then this bike would be what I would go after.
