Surrounding Cleveland is 80 miles of beautifully scenic, fun roads passing through a string of parks including
the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The surpentine roads passing through and connecting these parks is free of buildings, houses, trucks and commercial
traffic. It is a God Send for motorcyclists, bicyclists, jogger, dog walkers and children playing.
Last evening Andy/Clerider led me from the northeast section of the Necklace to Penisula, the town at the southeast corner. There we had a fine meal at the
Winking Lizard who's specialty is great food, 99 kinds of beer and their own Root Beer. The grilled chicken sandwich they served me is the best grilled
chicken sandwich I have ever had.
We took the following picture on Main St. in Penisula just before leaving for another pass through the parks.
On the way back we got to again enjoy passing through and by places such as the Gorges and the Canal where the oxen tow path has been converted into a bicycle
path. Also we saw deer, almost at regular intervals. They almost reminded me of cattle in that they were so tame, most of them were attending just to eating
grass by the side of the road and at most they would lift they heads to watch you ride by. I am not saying that some of them were not nervous or that a couple
of them did not bolt, but most of them were not scared at all, nor were they inclined to go anywhere other than where they were. They were very seriously
attending to business, i.e. munching grass. I had not seen this level of tameness before.
I wish every urban area had a Necklace like Cleveland has. It is really a nice place to ride.
