For the last 8 years I have had a Rifle windshield on my T. I do have some of the stock bracketry I picked up a few years ago, but I am trying to find out
what else I need. I do have #9 in the picture below, but it looks like I also need numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, 19, 21, 24 & 1 as well. What is confusing me is
that the bracket that is pictured is for the left fork, but perhaps number 5 is for the left fork and number 4 is the mirror image for the left fork. Is that
the way it goes? Thanks for your help.

Yes , that is the way I would think it is . It shows the one that would fit the left fork side , and just has two numbers on that item . The one for the other
side is the same , but faces the other way . You will need four number 6 pieces and duble of the rest of the hardware items for the fork brackets . But the
number 6 pieces are just little rubber spacers to keep it from vibrating .

Trider is correct. The 2 piece clamps for both left and right are identical....you just flip one opposite of the other. The #6 parts are just rubber fillers
to help dampen vibration and to keep from marring the fork tubes. These photos are a little blurry, but believe you can get a general idea of how they
mount.
A simple set of SS P clamps would work just fine if the originals prove to be hard to get. Ordinary SS and rubber grommets in hardware from Lowe's will do for the rest of the stuff. R side

Thanks for the help Shannon and Stan. I know what to order now.
Here's a picture of some of the SS P clamps that I have. If I were to mount my T windshield using this type I can always go down to Lowes and buy a
couple of larger ones. Are the larger one significantly thicker?

I don't think these would be strong enough....not for me anyway. This is what I really had in mind. They can be picked up at most cycle supply shops. JC
Whitney calls these slide clamps (the ones in the lower right corner).

I have 2 chrome center type clamps that will fit the forks and still have room for a thin rubber shim behind them. If you used a 1/4" to 3/8" spacer between the clamp and the windshield bracket, these would work just fine. I'll mail them to you for free if you want them. Stan

I think you are right. Those kind of clamps would be strong enough. I think I have a few of them in smaller sizes. The trouble with them is they are so thick and strong they really have to be inserted from the end. Trying to unbend them, fit them over a handlebar, or a fork, and then bend them back into shape is difficult. On the other hand if you can remove whatever is at the end of a handlebar (grip) or fork (triple clamp) then they can be slid on from the end easily. Thanks for your offer and for the idea. Let me see what I have on-hand first.

I have a Cobra lightbar, but decided to go with the standard-cut, not the Valk-cut Clearview windshield. After living with the differences between a
windshield with 12" long built-in lowers on my Nighthawk and one with no lowers, the Rifle that was on my T for 8 years, I definitely prefer the
windshield with built-in lowers because it provides much better wind protection, with no undrafts or wind noise from updrafts. I also love the looks of the
Clearview vs. Rifle. The Rifle was 3" taller than stock and 6" wider than the stock windshield which made it look too big for the bike, like a barn
door moving through the air. The Clearview windshield is 3.5" taller than stock and 1.5" wider than stock but to me it still looks like it fits the
bike. It offers great wind protection too. Even my way-too-noisy helmet, the Nolan X-Lite, is relatively quiet riding behind this windshield, even on a windy
day!
I am also including a picture of my new low mileage speedometer.

Fred....I must agree with you on all that you said about the Clearview. It sounds like we have the same deminsions on both of our Clearviews. I absolutely love
mine and how quiet it is when I'm riding behind this bigger shield.

I find it amazing how something that looks smaller and looks right (the Clearview windshield) provides better wind protection than something that looks too big (the Rifle windshield), but all things considered the Rifle windshield must be shaped wrong. Bob, Besides replacing the windshield and the speedometer, so far I have replaced the left switchgear cover and the clutch-mirror support. Funnily, the mirror itself was fine. It did not break, but its holder broke right off. My next project is to repair the left saddlebag. It has deep scratches in it. With some gel coat, sanding and painting it should look like new again. I am considering going to the Spirit handlebars especially if they have less leverage than the stock T bars. The stock bars seem like power steering to me. They are too easy to turn the bike. That level of sensitivity can be detrimental when my adrenaline kicks in. I would appreciate hearing from anybody that has Spirit handlebars on their T. Specifically I would like to know if the Spirit bars are easier or harder to initiate turns both at parking lot speeds and at on-road speeds. Thanks for your help.

I really, really need at least one fork clamp, either side will do. Alternatively, I need to know what size side clamp I would need. Honda has backordered the
mounting clamp for the fork and I bought the last right side one in my parts order.
Any suggestions since you all seem to be very involved in this? Thanks, |
