Where/how/why did you get you logon name?
I'm a retired United States Marine. I retired at the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in 1990. Hence.... Guns90!

This was the most appropriate section I thought this topic should be placed. I thought we did this once, but I can't find it in the searches, so I figure
it got lost in the transfer to YUKU. (If it is in here and I just couldn't find it, just tell me to shut up and go back to sleep.)

In the German language, my last name means "rider". In the Scandanavian languages my first name means "peace". I could have taken the
user id of "PeaceRider", but I spent too much time tearing up the highways to be peaceful.

Your right Gary....this use to be on the forum years ago. I also looked for it, but just figured I couldn't find it. Glad you started it up again.
Let's see if we can keep this on track and running. I find it interesting.
As for me, my forum name is just my first initial and last name. Guess I just lack imagination when it comes to trying to find something interesting. Hey maybe that should be another thread. A naming contest for me. Ooops....I may have opened the door on that one with this bunch? Better not go there!

Gary,
I didn't have a user name before I got on this forum so I had to think of something fast, TA are my initials or short for T Ace, Texas is my place of residence. Not really very imaginative but it works. I'm also retired military, 26 years US Army. |

Nice to meet ya, soldier. Yeah, I see from your profile that you hail from Lufkin. I grew up in Irving. After I enlisted, my mother moved to and later died in
Gun Barrel City (SALUTE!). All of my siblings are still in Texas. We have an agreement that they stay west of and me east of the Mississippi. It seems to work
for us.

I had just became a T rider and I am from Alabama. I just shortened it down to BamaTrider. On some of the other forums I'm known as "bodean" ,
but it was already taken on ezboard when I joined up on this site.

Skip is short for Skipper, a nickname my Dad gave me when I was very young. MMShadowT is my bike. MM is the roman numeral for 2000. Shadow T is pretty easy to
figure out.

Welcome Gunny. When I was stationed in Port Hueneme with NMCB-4 I was part of the Air Det. We were up at Ft Hunter Liggett for our FEX in mid March and after a week of hot days and cold nights and no showers, some of other Seabees grabbed me one chilly night and threw me into the shower and told me that I wasn't coming out till the funk was gone. They told me that even the critters wouldn't come into the tent. The name stuck with me for the next 23 years of traveling around the globe and always running into a Seabee that remembered that night. I retired as a Chief in 2006.

I am not good at coming up with names, so I remembered a book I had read years ago called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" The book was
related to motorcycles, and I figured most bikers had read it. Phaedrus is a character from that book. It was not the greatest name, but I had to choose
something. I often wonder what people think of it, if they have not read the book.

Phaedrus, though I had not read (or even heard of) the book, Its a good story how you got the name. As to what I thought of it.....I kind of pictured you as a
sort of Ben Hur looking character.

Gary,
No one has ever accused me of being like Charlton Heston (LOL). The thing that comes to mind when I think of "Ben Hur" is the twirling, metal blades on the chariot wheels that break the spokes on the oponents wheels. You better watch out if you ever ride close to my chariot (LOL).

Hey Mark, long time, no see. How ya doin' these days? The trip we took with your guidance around Lake Placid is one my most favorite memories made while
belonging to this forum. I was really hoping to do it again someday, but alas, it is not in the cards for me. I've finally come to the realization that my
riding days are over. I'll be selling Dixie this spring. Think you might be ready to move up from that 750? It's good to hear from you again.
