Then he starts talking about viscosity loss due to oil shear by the transmission gears. He showed me a report they had done by an independent agency that showed their full-syn 10-40 had the least viscosity loss over 5000 miles and the report named names! Royal Purple was the worst. After 5000 miles 10-40 RP is a 20 weight oil.
Now I'm starting to rethink this whole oil thing. The longest I go between changes is the Sturgis trip, around 3000 miles. I always change oil before I leave and when I come back, and again at the end of the season. How about it, Amsoil fans? Should I make the switch?
