HSATF Tail Gunner Posts: 91 02/22/08 5:00 PM	Tags : None I have experienced the slipping clutch problem on the Tourer and I would like to replace my clutch with a stiffer one. I have looked at the other threads and Barnett clutches and heavy duty springs seem to be the favorite. I would like to hear where people have bought the parts and what the part numbers are. When checking out the links, they never list the parts for a T ( probably because it is out of production). From those of you who have done this, I would like to know: Did you go with the Barnett, did it get rid of the slipping, how do you like it. I am looking to order the parts as soon as possible. I looked at the manual and I believe you only have to go as far as removing the clutch plates and you can omit the clutch housing removal. My guess, is that you will not have to remove the right header pipe, if you are only removing the clutch plates and not removing the clutch housing. I plan on documenting the whole process with pictures and other details. I belong to another club that has a tech section for just about every repair for the Yamaha Venture. HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 3706 02/23/08 1:50 AM	Unfortunately, you will need to remove the header pipes to access the bolts that hold the clutch cover on. You only need to remove the round cover, though, and not the entire side cover. The header is the only thing you'll have to remove for just clutch work. Here's a link to the work I did when replacing the primary drive gear. The photos are are page 1, and the clutch info is on page 2 where I did this on my other T. Of course, I will have to get a gasket for the clutch cover too. Thanks for pointing me to your thread on the primary gear replacement. Stan, I sent you an email. Now if some people could join in with information about where they bought the Barnett parts and the part numbers, that would be great. I want to thank Fredrider for the links he included in another thread: http://hondashadowacetourer.yuku.com/topic/4414 . I like information spelled out completely, so that is what I am writing here. I did some checking to make sure the parts were correct. I had my Honda dealer check that the Honda clutch part numbers matched for the VT1100 C, C2, and T. So when Barnetts web (supplied by CleRider link: http://www.barnettclutches.com/products/clutch_plates_springs.aspx?type=clutches_other&clutch_make=Honda&clutch_cc=1100) site listed the parts for the VT1100 C and C2, as being the same, they were correct (and they work for the T as well). I went to an independent bike shop to order the parts (my Honda dealer is listed as a Barnett dealer but they said they could not order that - they probably could make more money selling me the Honda parts. The independent actually order through Parts Unlimited (link supplied by Fredrider: http://street.parts-unlimited.com/17/54/4091966 ). There part numbers and prices are listed below. 2012-107; 9 - FRICTION PLATE; $116.55 2012-206; 8 - STEEL PLATE; $47.60 2012-306; 5 - SPRINGS; $15.95 For a total of $194 with tax. I will let you know how the install went and how I like the clutch. HSATF Tail Gunner Posts: 91 04/10/08 4:49 PM	When I replaced the clutch on the T, the gasket seemed like it had a sealer sprayed on the cover side because it is really stuck to the clutch cover. Should I spray some gasket sealer on the replacement gasket? Neither manual (Honda Shop or Clymer) mentions anything about appying a sealer to the gasket.
