Posts: 7794 05/04/07 12:56 PM	Tags : None It is so extremely sad for me to tell you all this, but my dear 'Almost Brother' Lou (hombldr) gave up his valiant fight for life Thursday afternoon. Lou's wife Lori called me a few moments ago to tell me the terrible news that Lou has finally crossed over to new world that awaited him. Lori was at his side, and encouraged him to make his big step to peace and freedom from his pain and suffering. Like many of you, I have lost one of the dearest friends I have ever known. Lou's friendship and brotherhood meant the world to me and especially so after he began to refer to me as his "Almost Brother". I have indeed lost my brother as I know many of you feel the same. Please all say a prayer and remember him always, as I will remember him the rest of my life. As Lou would say to us all...."Ride with Spirit always and in all ways". HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 1909 05/04/07 1:10 PM	Thanks Al. I believe I was the last of this group to see Lou, when we were there last Friday, as I went back in to say bye at the last minute. Lou told me then that the next time we saw each other, we would both be in a better place. He has made that journey, now. We will see him there in our own time. Rest In Peace, brother Lou. -Dan

He was a man who lived life to it's fullest and did exactly what he wanted to do while he was able. Because he did that, he was fortunate enough to re-live those moments instead of wishing he would have or could have. I can see him with that infectious smile right now in the place where he is supposed to be. Brother Kirk and I will toast to you tonight. Cheers to you Brother Lou! Bob

HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 649 05/04/07 3:43 PM	How can I even begin to say the things that I would like to about our dear Friends Lou and Lori. Lori called me this morning and asked if I could come and speak at Lou's memorial service on behalf of our family here on the HSATF. I was so honored that she would make the request and April and I will be heading out tomorrow night or Sunday morning early to head up there. I asked Lori if it would be OK if all of our family here that knows Lou and Lori and would like to relate a special story or say a few words about Lou could do that through me. She said that would be wonderful if anyone would like to do that. If you have any thing that you would like to say please e-mail it to me at jcsides@classicnet.net and I will read it as it is written during the memorial service. The service will be held at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, MO. Lori told me that the funeral home has a web page www.ozarkfuneralhome.com and that there is a place on the web page to sign a guest book for Lou. I checked the page and could not find Lou's name on it yet. Lori said that she would talk to them this afternoon and find out when it will be available. Lori says that at this time she does not need anything but our prayers and love and I know that we have plenty of that to go around. HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 3702 05/04/07 10:12 PM	There is enough posts on this forum alone to write a book about Lou. The biggest part of who he was can be found in the Riders and Flyers threads. Most of the times that I've talked to him, he was either telling of his days as a pilot, or his times on a motorcycle. He always had a story about life to tell for which he lived a full and complete one. He was that type person that you never got tired of listening to, or being around. Lou's body had gotten prematurely old and worn out from the cancer, but his spirit always remained young and healthy. You could always see that in his eyes and smile, and he has touched the heart of everyone he's met. Lou's body may have come and passed, but his Spirit will live on forever. Rest in peace, Lou. He will be taking advantage of his lead to the next world to have scouted out the good trails. The scoundrel could have waited for the rest of us so we could all start exploring together. I will carry Lou in my heart for the rest of my days. My only regret is in having become fast friends so late. I would like to have known him in his flying days too. HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 649 05/05/07 2:38 PM	Words of the nature that are being spoken/written here can only come from those whose hearts and lives have truly been touched by someone special. There is no doubting how special Lou is to all of us. I believe that he gave each of us a little piece of himself while he was here so we would never be without him. I have been fortunate to have my Daughter as my Guardian Angel. Now even more so because I can feel our Brother Lou looking over my shoulder helping to take care of me as well. When Lori and I spoke on the phone she told me that she could just imagine Lou looking up Amber when he got to heaven. She loved motorcycles and riding and I can just imagine all of the stories that he can tell her. UC "Stumbling block, or Stepping stone, the choice is your's"
