Dick,
Gel seats generally are very uncomfortable until they break-in, somewhere between 750 & 1500 miles. Then they are supposed to be the most comfortable seat available. Saddlemen seats also have narrow fronts, which makes it easier for those with short legs to put their feet flat on the ground, but which may also provide less thigh support for those with long legs.

hmmm... I am looking for a seat that is a little higher then the stock seat (for me) and something that has a better back seat for my wife... the long ride was
a little hard on her bottom.
How about mustang? are they good seats? I hear that they do sit higher then the stock seat. I have also been looking around town for someone who might make custom seats. |

I have a Saddlemen Gel seat and I don't like mine, after a while I feel like I have a load in my but and have to stand and let the gel flatten out.
It's good for about an hour then it start's flatening out.
I hear Corbin is the best, I'm going to ask Santa to bring me one... Hey Fred, check your Yahoo email. Mark

Dick,
Mustang seats are very wide, but also level across that width. They do not cup your butt, so the width is not near as impressive as it sounds. For me, my butt was only supported about 6" of the 18" width. They have 3 layers of foam which is real nice, but if you have inseams longer than 32" the Wide Vintage seat is set at the wrong angle and you will get no thigh support. Thus I only got support for about 5" in the fore-aft direction. If your inseams are less than 28" you probably will have trouble getting your feet flat on the ground. Bottomline I could only ride on a Mustang seat for about 60 miles before I started to squirm and after 110 miles I had to take a break. On the other hand, other riders with different physiologies go from full tank-to-empty tank happy as pigs in slop.

Can't say that I have. However the wife and I love our Diamond Custom seat. Best acessory investment I've made since owning the T. It just seems to
increase in comfort the older it gets. http://hondashadowacetourer.yuku.com/topic/3969/t/MY-Diamond-Seat.html

Rich,
what kind of a cost went with this seat? If that is you with the red and black bike, you appear to be a similar height/weight and shape as I am |

Sorry for the delay in answering you Rotog. I somehow missed your post. The Diamond seat we purchased back in 05 was actually less money than the Mustang model
for the ACE, far less than a Corbin. I can't remember the exact price however. I did save the paper work on it and have it at home but unfortunately
I'm writing this from my daughters home in Colorado where we are now visiting. I am 6' and was about 200lbs when I purchased the seat from Diamond.
Hope this helps.

No worries Rich,
I am taking my time trying to get the best seat for us. Been batting around the idea of getting a Mustang as well. Does the Diamond come with a back rest option? or is the seat as good as having a back rest? |

Yes Rotog the seat is available with a fully removable drivers backrest. I was not interested in that option when I purchased mine. So far I've been
comfortable without one. Rich
