no, that's not it either alain, but looks like they could use it. those are the cobras, but i thought they looked funny when i put them on, but i tried to
reverse them at that time and they won't fit the other way. you are getting close though. what i did was forward of the guards. later, bud

Studs on the radiator cover? I don't know if they were there before or not. Denny |

It seems to me that there are studs mounted on the radiator shroud that I didn't notice before. It is a subtle touch whether that's the mystery
add-on or not.

o.k. guys, here's the dope. i have lowered the front fender about 2" on Halfbreed. i cut an area out of the fender where it bolts to the forks and
re-drilled holes up about 2". i did this for a couple reasons. one is i thought it might bring the rear part of fender in closer to the tire and it did a
small amount. but, the main reason was that at times the rear curve part of the fender would rub the radiator. then, if you look closely, i have put a
stainless flamed cover over the radiator and just that little bit more was making it hit the fender enough to scratch the paint. by lowering the fender 2"
and moving it forward, it now has plenty of clearance, could probably gone another inch. i touched up the fender and rode about 200 miles last weekend and no
more rubs or scratches. and that's the rest of the story. my next project is to make a heel/toe shifter for Halfbreed. i have broken my big toe on
my left foot twice and it really gets to hurting without the heel shifter. i've checked everywhere and you have to buy the floorboards and all to get the
shifter, can't believe somebody isn't making these, as they look very simple to do. i like the footrest/stirups lou had on her, so don't want
floorboards. later, bud

Bud.....I'm guessing that I am just a bit confused. I looked at some of my old personal photos of Halfbreed and I do not find the distance between the
front fender and the radiator as being that close. Then I look at this picture of Halfbreed and I can see where the fender is very close. All I can think of is
that the cover to your radiator must have really closed the distance between the two a lot. But whatever.....you've solved your problem and that is good.
I had to look at the engine guards you have on Halfbreed and now I'm wondering if you don't have them mounted upside down and on the wrong sides. Isn't the larger curve of the engine guards suppose to be on the top and not the bottom? Does anyone else think they're mounted upside down?

alain, i googled some images of the bars and this is the way they all fit. right from the beginning, i thought they were backwards and believe me i tried
different ways, but guess this is what i have to live with.
as far as the fender distance, i think it's the angle of the photos. the cover i put on attached to the original plastic cover and is not more than an 1/8" thick. this bike has a lot of travel in front and i wonder sometimes if it needs a heavier oil or heavier springs, but, it doesn't bottom out. the original fender on the spirit was small and hugged the fender very close. by putting the indian fender on, you get a much fatter fender plus it sits away from the tire quite a bit. bottom line is, it's fixed and imo did not throw anything out of proportion. looking on my calender, only about 4 more weeks til eureka. i'm ready. later, bud |
