My friend sold his '94 SE with 15k mi for $7400 in Spring of '06. The SE was a top of the line Goldwing that had stock features not included on the std GL's. The black GL1500 you are looking at is a bone stock base model with basic black color. But, these models are still holding their value beyond book value if the mileage and condition is good. The GL1500's just do not get much below $6000 with this kind of mileage. I'd say that the asking price is fair to start, but would try to get it as close to $5k as I could if you are serious about it. One word of caution about low mileage carbureted Wings is condition of the carbs. There are six of them and a carb job will cost you big bucks. Make sure there is no stalling or hesitation upon acceleration. This bike has been sitting more that being ridden, and the carbs may have issues because of it.

I have ridden both the GL1800 and GL1500. Here is just some of mine and my friends personal experiences on the 2 models. If at all affordable, I would suggest the 1800 over the 1500.

GL1800 pluses vs. the 1500-
Easy removal of rear tire and wheel.
Easier to service and work on.
Lower seat height.
Roomier rear seat.
Better handling in the twisties.
Fuel injection.
More foot room for driver.
Less weight.
Easier to balance - less top heavy.
Keyless entry.
Skin it back and peel it off acceleration!
Chain driven cams vs. belt drive on the 1500. (No matter the mileage on the 1500, the belts should be changed every 4 years).

GL1500 pluses vs. the 1800-
More bag capacity.
Accessories are a little cheaper and more plentiful on ebay.
Some older-slower riders who do not care for the twisties prefer the big car handling and ride.
Lower priced due to age.
Adjustable handlebars.

In my opinion, the GL1800 is hands down a better handling and easier to service bike. There were a few recall issues to deal with on the earlier models like frame cracking, and heat sensor malfunction. Both are covered repairs by Honda. I am really liking my '04 GL1800 more and more as I ride it. My wife would only ride my T for short distances before complaining. She may have riden the T with me maybe 4 times all year last year. But, on the Wing she actually volunteers or asks to go riding on it. She's so serious about riding now that she has been asking me to buy her some official riding gear. I just ordered us matching Tour Master Intake riding jackets today.
