Nice looking bike Alain. Granger, IA is about 100 miles from Brother Kirk and 200 miles from me. Is there anything I can do for you? Bob

mktobob wrote: Thanks for the offers Bob. I know I'm going to call this guy. I have to. I got my current bike by calling the owner after it was sold and looked what happened. So I need to talk to this guy and just feel him out. If things feel good I might ask someone to look at it for me, if that is what your offering (?) I couldn't sleep last night thinking about this bike. Alain |

Airplane tickets are always cheaper than shipping costs.
What better excuse for a 1000 mile ride than checking out a new bike!! -Dan |

Al,
Having bought and sold a few bikes I can say... Winter and early spring is not the right time to get the best price. While the timing may work in your favor on the buying side, it is certainly against you on the selling side. When I sold my T a few years back, I couldn't get more than $4300 in April. Put it back on the block in May and got $5400. As for buying your new T... what can I say. We see them come up for sale at all times. If this one does not work out, I'm sure you'll find one just a nice a little closer to home. Andy |

Hi Alain: I would be more than happy to check the bike out for you...if it can wait for a couple of weeks. I am out of town or backed up in meetings until
the first part of May.
Personally, I would look for that almighty T closer to home. The added cost of shipping or travel could add up in $ and stress. I have a feeling that you have a pretty good woody going for that bike but I am sure the bike of your dreams is much closer to you than you think. Bob |

Alpel, I used idtransport www.idtransport.com They have a limited service area so am not sure if they
go to Iowa or New York. I was satisfied with their service and price. The bike arrived safe and sound and the price from NC to MS was a little over $600. Three
of us are planning on shipping our bikes to Seattle Washington in August, flying out with our wives, riding with them for a week and then them flying back home
and our taking a couple of weeks to make it back on the bikes. We have gotten a quote of $600 + change. I don't remember the name of that company, but will
try and find out for you.. As was already said, there are many who deliver bikes, so prices might be a little better than quoted to you.
Will come back to this thread when I get info for you...Bob <><

Wow Bob....that sounds like quite a trip! You guys are going to have a blast.
I am going to calm myself down and listen to reason. I know myself and I'm not going to buy anything, that my eyeballs haven't laid eyes on. So my thoughts about using a transport are going to be just that. Besides both my brother and Son-In-Law are salivating over the prospects of a road trip with me to look at a bike. Geez....who knew? Andy....how well I still remember your selling experience. I just wasn't certain of the dates when it happened. Time will tell me how well things are going. If the bike doesn't get the reaction I wanted I could try again. I've got to remind myself to be reasonable. I know that the used bike market is one of the best things going for motorcyclsts. I'm still going to get my Tourer this year, no matter what. I just wanted to use the sale of my bike before I got the T to lessen the sting of monthly payments. Bob....As much as I like the bike from Iowa, the lesson to be learned here is that it reinforces in my mind that there are a lot of bikes out there and patience will win out. Alain |

I was in exactly the same situation back in 2005. I saw a red and black T here in the members pics and decided that was the T for me. I started watching ebay and cycle trader and found quite a few over the next 6 months. Problem was they were all on the east and west coast and i couldnt justify the expense of shipping one and i really wanted to see it in person before buying. Pictures can hide quite a few flaws. I had just about given up finding one close to me when i picked up our local paper on memorial weekend 2005 and lo and behold i found a listing for a 98 tourer, red and black with 4800 miles on it! I called the seller immediately and got the address, it turned out to be less than 10 miles from my house! He said that there were quite a few lookers but so far no offers. I hopped on my trusty 83 shadow and rode to his house took one look at it and i knew i had found the T of my dreams! After about 15 minutes of riding it and another 15minutes of negotiating it was mine. Now 17,000 miles later i still love it. I have about 6 of my riding buddies that are die hard Moto Guzzi riders and i couldnt even begin to count how many times they have tried to get me to convert. I started to grow weary of their attempts so i let them start riding the T every time one of them would give me the Guzzi sales pitch. Pretty soon they stopped with the sales pitches.......hmmm wonder why that was??? So be patient my friend, something good might come your way a lot closer to home than you think. Trust me, it will be worth the wait! ride safe, Terry |

Terry....thanks for the words of encouragement and the tale of your purchase. I'm resigned to being patient. However the excitement over the reaction to my
ad in ebay and craigslist is quite something. I've had positive indications that my Shadow will not be a hard sell. So I may be jumping the gun with this
statment when I say my bike is going to sell. And sell it should it is a great machine.
