Better pack an extra credit card on your way to Americade. Now isn't that a scary thought. Unlike my old bike the 98 Tourer is easier to accessorize. I'm going to have a real hard time not going crazy.

Awesome news Alain!
Looks like you found the right bike. It is a beaut! As far as a fuel gauge, I just set my trip odometer to 0000 when I fill up. I can go about 110 miles till I hit reserve. I average around 33 mpg depending on the ride. This probably meens nothing to you due to mines a modified single crank engine so I'll shaddup now. I'm very happy for you. Denny |

OK Allain, Lets here what your thinking as far as accessories for the "T"? What will be the first thing you buy for it? In order, what is your plan of attack? Come on, lets get the ball rolling!

West Tn Dawg wrote: Well guys....that's a good question. I had not really thought about it. There are just a few things I would like right now, but I am going to go
slowly. I am really not into too much glitz and glamour, but I do like some. My biggest issue at the moment is needing to acquaint myself with what is
available. I know that many of you know what other Shadows (Sabre, Aero, etc) work with the Tourer style and many of the accessories for the Tourer are found
by looking at other bike styles. This I need to learn.

OK, you asked for suggestions............. This is only my opinion, but it is one I happen to agree with!
I would leave off the shaft cover. It is difficult to install and can hardly be seen. Take that money and buy a chrome radiator cover. They do worlds of good to a rather flat looking front end. The chrome side covers are great and really dress the side of the bike up. Dan had them on his last year and I kept thinking how much better his looked than mine. A must have in my opinion is the left frame cover. Even after installing the side covers the bike still had an awful black spot without the frame cover. Dan turned me on to them at Cruiser Customizing and they "were" on sale. Here is a cheap add on that does more good for the money than anything else. (IMHO) Buy the chrome door molding and install around the tank flange. It really brings the tank out! This same trim looks good around the front fender also. Later I added the Chorme front bumper, and removed the trim as it looked to busy with both. Floor boards are another thing that I really like on the "T". It seems I can relax a lot more with the boards! Pipes? Are you interested in a little more sound? I have ran stocks, Rumblers, V&H's and my brother had the modified stock. Personally, I probably liked the Rumblers sound the best. It had a little "growl" but not to loud. I am running the V&H's now and like them just fine too. Hey, I like spending your money! Go get started! Congrats again! Rick

OK, you asked for suggestions............. This is only my opinion, but it is one I happen to agree with!Well now Rick that is funny! I didn't ask for suggestions, but you sound as excited about me doing things for my Tourer (I love saying that....my Tourer) as I am just owning it. You did jog my memory quite a bit about some chrome items. I completely forgot about the chrome door trim for around the gas tank. That I believe is a definite must-do. The exhaust will stay the same. I have always liked the two into one look of the Tourer exhaust and the noise factor is not a requirement. To me quiet is better. I've got to start writing these things down. I suppose I should just make prints of several Tourers I admire off the members page and keep them handy. Now lets see....whose Tourer do I want to make pictures of.

Alain,
I agree with Rick about the shaft drive cover, really hard to see it with the saddlebags covering it and a bear to install i am told. If you get that chrome door edge trim i have a little tip for installation. Some of the bends while doing the tank can can be more easily accomplished with the aid of an old hair dryer. Just warm up the edge trim a bit with the hair dryer and it will conform more easily to the contours of the tank. Great looking bike and the all black is the perfect canvass for lots of chrome ![]() ![]()
Once again congratulations on your purchase of the T. ride safe, Terry |

Yea dump the drive shaft cover. I bought one a few years ago. It was a bear to get on. As a matter of fact I couldn't get it on so I sold it.

Alain, Most parts chains like Auto Zone, Advance, Pep Boys, and O'Reilly's carry a chrome trim product on a roll. It comes in 1/4", 3/8", and
3/4" widths. Is is better than the door edge guard and easier to conform to tight turns. Look at Stephens T's bike and you will see some of this on
his tank edges. http://hondashadowacetourer.yuku.com/topic/2730/t/Something-new-and-different-for-the-Bling-Kings-.html?page=1
Just scroll down to the bottom image of the close up of his engine and you can get a good look at the trim on his tank edge. It really out shines the door edge material because it is not plastic coated. It is actually chromed vinyl and you can't tell it from metal. Since it comes in a roll, you don't have to worry about ending up with a seem where one piece ends and the other picks up. The 1/4" width is about $12 for 18ft. Stan
