Great Weekend Ahead.... |

I can hardly stand it. The forecast for this weekend in Upstate New York is calling for gorgeous weather all day Saturday and Sunday. I've got a little
yard work to do, but then I'm off on my new-to-me Tourer. My mind has been racing all week about riding again. I'm thinking about another one of my
favorite rides around one of the Finger Lakes. Doesn't even matter which one or if I go with anyone else. I am riding this weekend!
I hope that everyone else is riding this weekend too. We can all ride together in spirit. alepel |

I'll be taking part in the Governor's Run ( www.governorsrun.net ) this weekend. It's a benefit run for
Holly Ridge Center's Infant and Toddler Program. The Holly Ridge Center works with developmentally disabled individuals and the run is put on by the Gold
Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter WA-B.

It's always overcast and rainy here - that's what rain gear is for. That's also why my T doesn't shine quite as much as some of yours -
it's always in need of cleaning!

If the rain will move on out early, we will be having a Yard Sale all day Saturday. Enjoy your ride.

Well it was actually another "great weekend" since I started this post.
On Friday, May 11, I decided early in the morning that I was going to somehow find a way to take a half day vacation and ride my T to get a state vehicle inspection. I carefully selected a motorcycle shop that was far from my home. I knew of this one shop that sold pretty exotic motorcycles like the victory, iron horse, big dog and others. I had never been there before so it became my destination. What a great afternoon to take off. The temps were in the low 80's, the sun was brilliant, and it was just me and the T. On my way to the motorcycle shop I sorta kinda thought I knew where it was and it turned out I was wrong. Why do men do this. It only reinforces in woman's minds that we never know where we are going. Fortunately for me I was riding alone and my wife wasn't there to chide me along. But I did hear her from a distance and pulled over to ask directions. It turns out I was only one country block north of where I was supposed to be. So easy enough now I find the place. As I pulled in my eyes almost popped out of my head upon seeing some of the gorgeous bikes. Real eye candy if you know what I mean. I realized I better keep my eyes on where I was going or I would crash into something or someone. So I pulled right up to the service door right into the midst of some Victories, and Iron Horses and others. I sort of figured.....like right, I belong here in the midst of these kinds of bikes. NOT! I got off my steed and I was removing my helmet and gloves when my eyes feel upon this gorgeous candy apple red paint job on a gorgeous motorcycle. I was staring at it for a few minutes and realized that all the guys that had been standing there were gone. When I turn around to pull the key out of the ignition I find that these guys are now standing around looking at my bike. A few quiet compliments followed and made me feel good. After all these guys were in a class in and of themselves. Finally the mechanic comes walking out of the garage and over to my bike and says out loud for everyone to hear....."well I've been waiting to work on one of these". He says to me. "I've never seen one of these, but now I understand why some the mechanics tell me should". How great was that to hear my fellow Tourer owners. I was so proud. I not only got one state inspection, I actually got two. Both of the mechanics working at the shop wanted to look the bike over. When they were done they said to one another...."could you find anything wrong?" The other said....."are you kidding. Did you check the mileage on this thing?" I let him get away with calling it a thing. I knew what he meant. The only thing I need to take care of was the light switch on the foot brake. Apparently the pedal need a lot of pressure to activate the light. I was shown how to adjust the switch to cause the rear brake light to come on sooner. That was it. So now I'm all set for the whole year. I enjoyed my long ride home and just riding this bike. I tell you what guys. There is a special feeling about riding this bike. Like no other feeling I have ever experiences before. Isn't it wonderful. Hurry up my next weekend I can hardly wait. Two weeks to go and then I'm off to Americade where for a whole week I can nothing but ride this beautiful motorcycle all the time. alepel |
