I also find that the gas mileage on my '98 T depends on how I drive. Commuting 29 miles each way to work I get between 37 and 41 mpg depending on whether I accelerate at the same rate as the cages or whether I smoke the cages. On the interstates I get 34-36 mpg going 75-80 mph but 1 to 2 mpg higher if I travel at 65-70. Funnily I get the best gas mileage when I am in the twisties. Despite getting on the throttle hard coming out of each turn I get 42-43 mpg on roads like the Dragon.

Thanks for the welcome. I stumbled onto your newsgroup a few days ago. Already learned a bunch of useful things regarding noises, tires, exhausts, etc. Really appreciate it. Think I can add a few useful things, e.g. I have ridden many thousands of miles on both Mustang and Corbin seats. Will post my experiences with them soon. Thanks again for the welcome. It is good to be a part of such a knowledgable, enthusiastic, interactive group.

When I first got my T I had just moved up from a 2000 750 ACE at 50+mpg . T was running at 36-38 range . I get better mileage riding 2-up ( my wife doesnt like to ride too fast ) . I average around 40mpg , have gotten as high as 46 and as low as 36 , depends on how I ride . I have a friend who has a 96 1100 ACE single pin and he gets 48 mpg so I guess I can't complain . I just start hunting a station when I hit 100 miles , about time to rest my tush any way . Black & Chrome 98 T

Man, I am the obvious outlier here, I am LUCKY to get to 105 miles before I have to switch to reserve. MPG is my only b*tch about this otherwise great bike.

I get right at 40 mpg. I agree that the range of the T leaves a little to be desired, but some of that probably comes from being used to the range of a Gold Wing. I haven't replaced the stock seat yet, so after a 100 miles it's not all that bad getting off to refuel.

The previous owner must have rejetted the carbs on mine. I'm getting 33-34 AFTER adding the K&N, V&H and new plugs! True, I ran carb cleaner thru the first 3 tanks, but I should be getting around 40. I don't have a tach, but I've normally shift at 25, 45, 55 and 65 mph. Should I check to see if my brakes are dragging?

Hey is Fredrider starting over since his move to maybe the second best riding part of the country? The Fredrider I know has way over 2000 posts and every one worth the reading. Can you do the same with this here ol' bo' as I would sure love to be able to throw my leg over Halfbreed again, Skip.

I got 45 mpg, up to 48 mpg. In the past months, I got down to 40mpg. I shanged the plugs, which looked like it was burning rich, but still only get 40mpg.
