Hi, guys and gals, I know it's been a long time since I've been here. It's just been busy, busy, busy around our family! But I've finally had a
Honda motorcycle leave me hanging (my beloved "T"), and I need some advice.
I was traveling interstate about 11 p.m. one night, and the bike completely shut off for about 2 seconds. No lights, no engine, no nothing. She restarted before I pulled off, and we went another 15 miles before she did it again. She restarted again before I could coast to the emergency lane, and we made it another 20 miles home.
The next morning, she started up like nothing was wrong. I filled up with gas just a block down the road, but when I started her up again, she spit and sputtered and acted like she was choking down. I coaxed her home, where she sits now. When the key is turned on, she exhibits no live at all -- not even the neutral light comes on.
The battery didn't hold a charge, so I replaced it with a $118 version
from my local dealership. Still nothing. A neighbor who owns a 1600 Kawasaka Nomad suggested the stator may be the problem. A bad stator drains
batteries pretty quick, he says.
Does that sound legit? Or has anyone else experienced such a thing? Is it dealership time for repairs?
Mitch
