Hi From Washington |

Howdy Everybody! Just picked up a beautiful black '98 Tourer last week. So far, I'm Thrilled! I've got to get used to a bigger bike now, my
previous bike was a 600 VLX. Before that I had a 650 Nighthawk. This bike met most, if not all, my upgrade needs. As soon as I get a good picture, I'll
post it. Although it is pretty much your stock bike. I've already picked up a lot from browsing the forums, and am looking forward to future discussions.
Steve Oh yeah, I live in Auburn, which is about 30 miles south of Seattle.

Hello Steve and welcome to our little band of merry men. Oops I mean our group of hardcore, fast riding, tough talking, fist pounding....oh never mind.
Welcome to the forum from upstate New York. I have noticed lately that the last few new members seem to be coming from out of the Northwest. How interesting is that. It sort of begins a balance we need from the heavy number of Texans here on the forum.
Jump in at anytime and throw in your two cents worth. Don't be concerned if some forum members don't respond to you right away. That's because some of them need someone to wheel them into a room that has a computer.
Welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to 'talking' with you more in the future. alepel |

Steve - HELLO from another Washingtonian! I'm currently in Bremerton. You'll love your T and this bunch of guys on the board. You have to get used to
the colloquialisms
and dialects of the English language used by some members (y'all) and you'll hear about strange foods (salt potatoes), but for the most part it is very
entertaining. Hope to see you on the road!

Thanks everybody. I had noticed there are a bunch of Texans on here! My first project is to pull my wheels and get my new tires put on. Then I'll be set.
You all do seem like a great bunch, I'm glad I found you.

Welcome to our family, Steve. Glad to have you.
I don't know if you already knew this, but if you are going to jack up your T to remove the wheels, you'll need a special jack adapter. The engine hangs below the frame on these bikes, and if you try to lift it with a std motorcycle jack, you'll likely crack your engine case. Stan

Yikes! I did not know that. What is the adapter like? Can I toss one together?

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum. I was just in your neck of the woods this week. Seattle, Mount St. Helens. We covered a lot of ground via car, train, ferry
and seaplane. You live in a beautiful area. Oh yes, one question. Why do people there drink so much coffee? Bob

Bob - We drink a lot of coffee in the gray months to combat the blues, then we're hooked on the stuff the rest of the year. We have to put ice in it in the
summer months.

I don't think you are BS'n me about the coffee. Everywhere I looked there was a coffee shop and people walking everywhere with a cup in their hands. I was a bit freaked. And the coffee....man was it STRONG! Bob |

Hi Bob, thanks. Yes we do have some beautiful country up here. You can ride from the ocean and the rain forest up through mountain passes to the high desert in
one day. It is really cool. Except it does rain a lot on this side of the mountains. As for the coffee, I'm not sure. It is pretty much everywhere you look
though. Downtown Seattle has competing stores on opposite corners of the street and this repeats itself every three blocks or so it seems. I'm kind of
glad, cause I'm addicted! My favorite drink is either strong black coffee or a double short latte. I like to taste the coffee! Steve
