Thanks for the site, I enjoy it tremendously. BTW, I ride my tourer to work every single day (12 miles). I find that if I don't keep the green tee clean, I don't mind the afternoon rains as much.
Ride safe what ever you are driving,

Sam,
Congratulations on turning 55 and still being able to climb up to 12,000 feet on a bicycle. That is a great feat!. Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos. I would like to ride the road on your shirt.

Sam....that picture of you is well worth framing! I wish my stomach looked like that. My hydropak is filled with too much of the malt and barley.
I had the pleasure to spend a week in Aspen on a skiing vacation back in the seventies. Best vacation I think that I have ever spent. Absolutely gorgeous. And the night life was unbeatable. I'm curious to know how difficult it was to pedal a bicycle to a 12,000 elevation. I remember the difficulty breathing when skiing from the top of Aspen Highlands which I think rises to 14,000 feet. I felt like I was 60 when I was only 30 at the time. alepel |

Well Sam, now you have gone and done it. I am sure you inspired a number of us to get up and exercise our way to better health. You have done that for me and
I am making great progress.
I am at the point that when the urge to exercise rolls over me I find the nearest chair and sit down. Eventually that urge disappears. Great going on the ride. That is some mighty thin air you are breathing at that elevation. Bob |

Thanks Alepel,
I cheat a bit since I live at 5300 ft. above sea level during the year, so an extra 3 to 5 K feet in elevation is quite a bit different then people coming from 100 to 200 ft. above sea level and then going to 12 or13 K feet. Limiting factor for me is the left knee which started giving me trouble about 10 months ago. My leisure life is still consists of 2 wheels or 2 flat boards, and of course trying out new Margarita recipes (hence the 'gut' , so if any one has a special recipe, please send my way. BTW I have no idea how that
smiley face got imbedded in this note.

Sam, I have great admiration for every cyclist I see riding out in Colorado ( and the Smokies too ) something I could never do , at least nowdays . My son is a
catagory 2 and races all over the country . He also ,last month ( or was it July ), won the Illinois state Champion's jersey in road racing in the masters
class and is a coach for an outfit called Vision Quest out of Chicago .He now has to wear the jersey in every race to which I reminded him made a nice bullseye
. He and his wife both race and have ridden parts of the Tour de France on a couple of occasions .What all that bs means ( besides the obvious bragging
I'm glad to be here but.....where was I going ?
