There is no brick and mortar Advanced Auto Parts, Wal Mart, or Pep Boys within the city and county of San Francisco. None of them. I checked all three online, and only Advance Auto Parts online showed this filter. Pep Boys online did not have it, but I suppose that doesn't mean their brick and mortar down the Peninsula doesn't.

We do have, however, brick and mortar Kragen's, which, when run online, turns out to be the same as Partsamerica. More still, when you look at the setup of the site, part numbering system, and part descriptions, it is all identical, and I mean IDENTICAL, to the Advanced Auto Parts website. Apparently, Advanced Auto Parts in the East and MidWest is the same company as Kragen's and Partsamerica in the West.

Again the Purolator is a $13 item. I will probably walk or ride over to the Kragen's around the corner and see if they carry it on the shelf and, if so, if it is a mere $6 for the effort of leaving the house to obtain it.

If I want to go to Pep Boys, I have to ride a little South down the peninsula. If I want to go to Wal Mart, I have to either ride South all the way to San Jose almost, or I have to cross the Bay Bridge into the East Bay. Neither of those options is my favorite - and Wal Mart happens to be politically on the outs here in SF for it's apparent chronic maltreatment of its employees.

I'm not expecting a Wal Mart to be built inside The City in the foreseeable future.

Besides, my next oil change will be due before they could get it built even if they broke ground this morning.

Even though I'm not at all averse to the SuperTech, I haven't even tried looking for that one. I figure that, either way is probably an upgrade from the Hi-Flo filters one of my motorcycle shops has been selling me for the past few oil changes.

Sorry to say, I haven't yet been able to afford the new seat. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. I ride way too much to have that ass-torturing stock seat. I've kinda settled in favor of the Russel Daylong, and am dreading the long ride to Redding to have it installed. Not dreading it too much, though, as I'm still too poor to foresee that order.
