Driving Lights on Hwy Bars |
Lead | ||
|
Oh forum guru's, does anyone have a suggestion or comment about mounting driving lights onto a set of MC Hwy bars. I know I had seen a picture of this set
up before and it looked good but it eludes me at this time. Any guidance, help or links that could be provided would be most useful for the ongoing evolution
of my 2000 T.
Thanks in advance. Bill |

I've got Kuryakyn large halogen bullets on my engine guard held with Kury "P" clamps. But my wire run is tacky. I just have it zip-tied along the
bar. A clean install would drill a hold on the inside loop of the bar and thread it back to the bike through there. Only 30W(?) but adds good illumination, low
and wide.

Duke, Thanks for your input to the driving lights. I'm going to take a look at the Kuryakyn web site shortly to check them out. I'm still torn as to
whether I will go with an (e-bay) light bar or the hwy. bar mounted light but I am partial to the latter. Anyway, Fall will slowly be approaching the Northeast
and I want to keep riding so this will probably turn into one of the multitude of winter projects in my unheated barn. Can you say brrrrrrr.
You would'nt happen to have a picture of the setup available? If so could you forward it to me. Thanks, Bill |

Duke,
I'd like to see some pics of your lights as well. Perhaps you can post some up here. Thanks. Tony |

By popular demand, I took some pics tonite....
Forward view. You'll notice I have them splayed outward. This is because the beam pattern is wide so I can take advantage of that and get lots of peripheral illumination.
Detail view. Please excuse the messy bike. It's been raining, but I've still been riding.
The lights are one, but no one's home. . Hmm...why is one indicator
brighter than the other? Better check that. Hopefully it's just the angle.
Enjoy!

if you could find a set, the old volkswagon beetles had a neat set of back-up lights that really look good on a motorcycle. i'm sure someone is probably
repoping them. i used these "back when" you could find them in many wrecking yeards for a few bucks. they are a good size and have chrome housing.
also, if you have a large truck stop near you that has a "chrome room", they have a lot of neat lights very reasonably priced. in fact, i'm going
to the one near me in the next few days and look for different taillights to install on my bike. last time i was there, noticed some neat "bullit"
shaped ones. later, bud

fyi, those horns are from HarborFreight. I didn't find them on their website but last time I was in the store they still had them. Less than $20 for the
pair. Add a $3 automotive relay and all is good. I did have to fab a bracket for the left side. The right side I put right onto the factory bracket. Much
louder than the little oem beep-beep.
