Actually Alain, I already answered that (page-up a bit). I guess my attempt at humor did not hit the mark.

David, that is a gorgeous photo!
Southerners may have more riding time, but us northerners have winterscapes like it's nobody's business! Jesus will rock Planet Earth! (Revelation 6:12-17) Are you ready? |

Hey, don't be fooled about weather in the south. We do get our snows, now and then, so it's not always warm and sunny. Why, I think we had an 8 incher
back in '88 or '89. And then a big ice storm in '94. And last winter we got a 1 incher here.

Stan, That is a beautiful picture the house just in time for the holidays. I'll take snow any day over the ice storms you guys sometimes get. You don't
see those much up north.

Well, I ride every day the roads aren't wet and icy. We had about 4" of snow in Denver this week, and as soon as I could get the "T" to the
road, I was out there. I just make sure to leave extra space for manuvering around those huge chunks of ice that seem to fall off cars whenever they are in my
lane.
Cheers! |

I feel bad for the guys in the warmer climits, they have to work on the bike when they could still ride.
I however have no such problem, 4 months to get that major project done, every year. |

I do enjoy the conversation we are having here, but I want to try to bring this thread back on coarse.
So I'm sitting here feeling lousy about winter, as I do with each passing year as I get older. My mind wanders to spring and then I look up on the wall of my cubicle and what do I see? It's a big 11 x 14 inch picture of me riding my Tourer in full leather gear. The photo was taken by Roadpics.com while I was touring in the Adirondacks during Americade 2007. A beautiful photo I might add! So as I gaze at this photo, which I do constantly, I am reminded again of Spring and riding again. So what do the rest of you have around your office or workplace to remind of riding while your on the job?

Alright Alain, I'll try to help get things back on track. I have one more reminder of the road. Down in my basement where I have my internet computer and
fitness equipment, I have state maps posted on the wall, that have all my traveled routes highlighted on them. They are AAA maps so they don't cost me
anything. It just reminds me that I have been to some great places and prompts me to dream of the next route.

Good idea Phaedrus. I have many such "marked maps" too, but never thought to display them on the walls.
Any of you guys have your GPS' hanging from your basement walls?

Wow David....are those all travels by motorcycle? I love to pour over maps and I have one USA map all marked up with travels I've had but none of them
are motorcycle trips. If I was in your basement right now I would be pouring over every inch of them traveling in my mind the many thousands of miles you must
have traveled.

Yes the marked roads are all motorcycle trips. I update the maps when I get back from vacation. While planing a route, I try to include roads I have not been
down. There are some roads in Colorado that look interesting, but continue to elude me. The weather in the mountains can catch you off guard. The weather
report will say isolated showers, but mostly clear. You have no idea where these storms will pop-up. I tried to ride to Buena Vista twice this year and was
turned back by weather both times. The last time it happened, I had to record it in pictures because I just could not believe my luck.
Storm approaching quickly from the North and I need to go North to return home from Buena Vista.
The first time I tried to ride to Buena Vista, I had clouds like this in front of me. Nobody rides into a storm like that unless they have to. So I headed South to stay ahead of the storm, then head East to get out of the mountains, then take the highway home (not how I would have preferred to travel). But while I was heading South another storm cell was swinging in from the East. You can see this in the picture below as well as the dark clouds in my rear-view mirrors.
Sorry Alain, I veered off topic. One thing kind of lead to the other.
