Posts: 6136 12/23/07 9:59 PM	Andy, I always ride my bike to any rally I can. The only rally I trailered to was the 2003 Bike Week in Daytona. If I had not trailered to that one I would not have made it, considering I had to drive through a heavy snowstorm in Indiana to get down to Florida that year. The two Americades I have attended, in 2004 & 2006, I did ride to both of them. Fred

Actually what happens is people come to New York and once they're here they can't afford the Exit Tax (some call it the New York State Thruway) and remain here as faithful residents living in cardboard boxes under bridges and expressways. Those that can afford to pay the Exit Tax, do so, and never return, but tell everyone what a wonderful time they had, least anyone find out how foolish they were to almost get trapped here. All kidding aside portions of New York State such as the Adirondack Park area and the Finger Lakes Regions are quite beautiful with twisting hilly roads and and beautiful lakeview vistas. Posts: 1908 12/24/07 12:04 PM	Andy, Upstate NY is very pretty. Winding roads, trees, rivers & lakes just about everywhere you look. In 2004 I took the turnpike from Utica to Buffalo... never again, at least on a motorcycle. After the 2006 Americade event, rather than taking I90, I rode US20 (the old NY turnpike) from Albany to Geneva NY. I saw more motorcycles than cars and except for the half-dozen or so towns, maintained near-highway speeds. As for long distance riding to a rally... many of us will ride our bikes to a rally. Actually, for the 2006 Americade, I rode about 400 miles south to catch up with Fred near Bluefield WV, then another 800 miles northeast as we toured the greatest road in WV, PA and NY for a couple of days. For a typical week long rally, I'll log between 2000 and 3500 miles. Up until six years ago, I would have never thought about touring on a bike. After our first T rally in Michigan, I was hooked. Posts: 1908 12/26/07 1:46 PM	I live in a little town called Chagrin Falls, in southeast 'burb of Cleveland... Cuyahoga county. All of my adventures start here. As for the 2008 rally's: Ride to Americade... I hope to pull this off. It's 50/50 right now. My daughter is getting married in mid-July so it's up in the air. Americade is June 2-7 2008. If I can pull it off, I would like to ride May 31 thru Jun 3/4. If possible, it would be nice to: - Meet near Franklin, PA. - Follow US62 along the Allegheny river - Go across US6 eastbound - Head northbound along a finger lake - Follow along Lake Ontario - Skirt along the St. Lawrence river, just south of the Canadian border - Follow Lake Champlain to Lake George - Catch up with some HSATF members for dinner Then I'll jump down to Albany, spend the night before heading east on US20 and back home. For the Clarksburg rally: I'll leave Cleveland in the morning, get just a little south of Akron/Canton then pick up OH 800 to the OH/WV border; cross the river then either follow WV 20 or WV18/US50 to Clarksburg. If he can make it I would expect that he will ride from NJ where he lives to my house and then on with me over to US 178 or US 276 on the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway (SR 11), just south of the NC-SC border.
