HSATF Member Posts: 10 02/26/08 7:00 PM	Tags : None I joined the forum a little while back and missed this bit so better late than never. I'm way, way down south in Perth, Western Australia where we have Shadows and ACE's and even some Aeros. I ride a ACE 1100 c2. The Tourers were never sold in Australia but I travel overseas a lot and I have seen them in the US. I'm coming to the West in July with a buddy to ride for a month so we intend buying a couple of Tourers and then maybe selling at the end of our trip. If anyone gets down this way they should look me up and we can show you around - I'm told that it's a bit like California 20 years ago here! Better go and earn some dollars now.......................

HSATF Member Posts: 10 02/27/08 2:27 AM	I'm open to ideas on this. We'd like to start in LA or Scottsdale. If we start in LA we would ride south to San Diego and then across to Phoenix. I'm guessing 250 miles per day is really enough and we wont be riding every day - need to take in the culture/sights/beer. I have relatives in Scottsdale so that is a must-do. I also have a buddy with a bike currently living in Salk Lake City so I'm told it's good riding up there. We figure we're better doing a smaller part well than a big part badly - we could always come back! So at 250 per day and say 15 days riding we are going to cover a maximum of 3750 miles - or less. How far south are you BeauJames? Any thoughts on what should be high on the list, Skip MMShadowT? Stan, I live in a State that is 11 x the UK in size and has 2 million people total with 1.7million of then in one city - we can ride for a day and not see anyone! iainmacoz

Posts: 8049 02/27/08 8:28 AM	Hello iainmacoz and welcome to the forum. I have been reading your earlier posts seeking a couple of Tourers to make your trip to the US more enjoyable. If you've been reading all the posts here on the HSATF forum, you've probably noticed that there are a lot of Tourers for sale on ebay and Craigslist. However California does not seem to produce as many for sale as some other parts of the US. Good luck on your search. It was good that you introduced yourself to our members like this, because I would dare to say that your search to find a Tourer for sale was met with some caution. It is not common for us here to read of a person from so far away looking to buy a Tourer without a face to face meeting. My wife has an Aunt and Uncle and many cousins that live in the South west part of Australia. I do not recall the name of the area at this time. They have come to visit us here in the US and it always amuses me how much shopping that they do here. My wife's cousin loves to go shopping for things that are difficult to find in Australia and he likes to buy many items that he can sell again in Australia. I hope that you enjoy your trip to the US and I will be looking for some reports from you here on the forum about how your trip is progressing. This is the best place to live in West Aus. so i can understand your relatives being there. You ar right about the caution but that is fine by me - I put myself in their place and I would be cautious about an approach from so far away. I buy stuff on Ebay regularly for my 65 Buick Riviera (background of my photo) so I guess this has broken down that barrier for me. I'll report on the trip for sure. iainmacoz

Good Luck with your future trip throughout the U.S. There is a wealth of information from the forum members as to sites to see and roads to ride. Once you figure out your itinery just ask a few questions and you will be surprised at how much help you will receive. My suggestion is to hone in on a specific area of the U.S. ( north, south, west and east) that you would like to see and go from there. The Oregon coast, San Francisco, California coast, Grand Canyon, Zion National Park Utah, Bryce Canyon and perhaps the Gulf coast would be worth exploring on the Internet if you are interested in the Western area of the U.S. I've ridden these areas and they are all beautiful. One day I would love to explore the eastern area of the U.S. taking in the Blue Ridge Parkway. Fredrider is the man to talk too if your interested. Good Luck and ride safe. John
