HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 568 07/06/18 2:04 PM	Tags : None Does anyone else out there play an instrument and how long have you been playing. Do you still have any equipment left and what do you have? I've played guitar and bass for years, I have 4 guitars, a Banjo and my Fender Jassmaster bass. Plus about ten harmonicas' along with the Amps and sound gear. The Bass is my favorite and I can fit in with anyone, just tell me the key and were off. Mark " Ride the Wind "

Acapella or singing was not my bag, I can't carry a note to save my life. That's why I learned to play so many instruments so I could hide behind them... Mark " Ride the Wind "

I've suffered with poor circulation in my hands so much that the pain was just too unbearable to continue. It's been so long since I picked up either one of them that I can't even remember how to play any of them. I had to stop singing because it was attracting too many stray cats. HSATF Tail Gunner Posts: 81 03/02/08 12:34 PM	My Grandma always told me singing was in tune, and what I did was make a joyful noise. Although as I've gotten older, people have started telling me I have a good voice. But hearing the music they are listening to today, I don't know if that's a compliment or not. I've picked up the guitar, but am just learning. I had bought it for my Dad about 10 years ago, and he left it to me when he died last Oct. cheers!

It's good for the mind and helps you slowly forget the issues around you and just play. When I hit Charlotte, NC I want to find a Banjo teacher and get that instrument up to speed. I've never figured out whether the dog is singing for enjoyment or trying to say "Please make it stop!" I play the guitar and bass and on occasion put together a band for a local concert. Cannot play it but cannot part with it either. Besides it's kind of beat up. Too much WHO influance. Who most influanced me. I can think of five: - Noel Redding and Billy Cox with Jimi - John Entwistle with THE WHO - Berry Oakley with the Allman Brothers - Paul McCartney with the Beatles But the most influance had to be James Jamerson with the Funk Brothers (the studio band behind all the Motown hits). I hear an old Motown hit and my fingers cannot stand still. Andy

HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 1909 03/04/08 7:47 AM	Drummer. I played drums starting at about 6 years old and played till mid 20's. All the time growing up, it never occured to me that I would be anything other than a drummer. Played in several bands. Mostly R&R. Some blues. Played in a Dixieland Band once. It was a hoot!! Probably had the most fun playing in a band called "Papa Smith's Banana Band". We played, mostly, Tijuana Brass and Baja Marimba Band tunes. After I got married, I discovered I was going to have to make a "life style" decision. The life of a professional musician is not very compatable with family life. So, I quit playing. I could not stand playing in little part time, or "just-for-the-fun-of-it" bands. Sold most of my drums when the kids were little. Both of my sons were drummers in school. The oldest, Kris, still plays. He has three kits. An old vintage Ludwig set, A huge set of Tama's, and an electric set. He plays in two bands. I go and bang on his stuff from time to time. Kris and I go to a lot of concerts together. At every concert, I always have this feeling, that I can only describe as feeling homesick. -Dan Don't worry about the horse being blind, Just load up the wagon.
