A Little Help Please

HSATF Member Posts: 15 03/30/08 6:33 AM	Thanks. Been there done that as well as calling at least 12-24 different Honda dealers nationwide. The part is backordered from Honda and I bought the last one. All the parts fiches list the part, take your order then call you and tell you its backordered with no release date. Kuryakyn makes a 41mm clamp that should fit the T's fork but it has a 5/16 hole while the stock bolt is 6mm. Apart from having someone fabricate me a clamp, you think that's my best bet? Obviously the ideal would be that someone sees these posts and says "hey, I have one".

HSATF 1st Officer Posts: 3706 03/30/08 10:04 PM	The 3 piece clamps (like on the lower link) do not come large enough for the forks. The ones for pegs on the upper link WILL bend the fork tubes. If all else fails, then I may have an extra one or 2 of the old style chrome P clamps lying around, so keep me informed as to your progress on this. Posts: 5876 03/31/08 5:18 AM	Stan, Thanks for clarifying that for me. RJ, I can see three potential problems with the clamp you ordered. It may be too thick. The mounting hole may be too big. The clamp may not close all the way and tighten around the fork tube since one side of the clamp butts up against one side of the 11mm (0.43") thick rubber grommet and the other side fits is 7/16"" away from its normal clamping position. The first two "potentials" do not look like deal busters, but that third one has me worried. If you cannot clamp tightly around the fork tube your windshield will not be stable against the force of the wind. I must have gotten lucky when I ordered my Honda clamps a few months ago. HSATF Member Posts: 15 04/02/08 9:21 PM	Yeah, so send me yours! Actually right now I'm using the one good Honda clamp on one side and the National Cycle Clamp on the other. Managed to get both clamps on tight. Problem is that the shield is just a little on the crooked side. You can't tell from the front but the vent is clearly tilted to one side. It'll work okay until I get either the Kuryakyn Clamp or the HOnda Clamp. Alternatively, I might try to use both National Cycle clamps and use the spacers that National used on their shields. I just need to get some longer 6mm bolts to use and some regular nuts. I'll say this for the Clearview/STock shield as compared to the National cycle: It's not as high as the Nat cycle one, but with the angle and width, you get some face air, but it's nice and clean, not turbulent.
