I'll be pulling in to the Koyote Ranch near Medina, TX for the next few days. Check out the website. I hope it's as good as it looks.

I was just over that way a few weeks ago. You should be getting there at a nice time of the year. The Bluebonnets and other wild flowers are running a little
late, and it is just getting green over there.
Just south of the Koyote Ranch, on 16, is the Medina Children's Home. That is the pet project and main focus of fund raising for our motorycyle group at church. Go by and look around. It is an amazing ministry. While in the area, check out the Old Spanish Trail Cafe in Bandera. The Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls. Take a drive through Lost Maples State Park on 187. Drive/ride the "Twisted Sisters" http://www.openroadjourney.com/loadroute.asp?rid=705 Lots of stuff to do in the area. Welcome to Texas! Enjoy!! I'll see you in a couple of weeks in Eureka Springs!! -Dan

Scott....I remember that you said that you were going to hit the road, but it took me awhile to realize that you actually did it. Please tell us more. How are
you travelling? What is your trip itinerary? How long are you going to be on the road? Are you documenting your trip like Stoney is doing? (Whew....all these
questions are tough). Are you going to return to the Northwest when your done? etc. etc.
Inquiring minds what to know.....okay so it's only me and I'm nosey.

Anyone intersted in the continuing saga of my quest to become a fulltime RVer can read my blog. I write when I feel like it about whatever I want. To answer your specific questions Alain, I am rolling in a used 22' Minnie Winnie, towing an enclosed trailer for the precious cargo - my T and my golf clubs. My itinerary beyond Eureka Springs is up in the air, although I intend to return to the Grand Canyon after it warms up. I guess I'll be on the road until I'm tired of it. My sister did it for 14 years! I will return to Washington from time to time (probably the east side of the state) because it's a beautiful place in the summer. I hope to join my friends for a ride around Oregon (we did Washington last year) in late July. Scott "Silence is golden, duct tape is silver" |

Hello Scott and thanks for the link to your Blog. I actually did read it. I found it extremely interesting. You write like it is a journal and you are
expressing your personal thoughts and I find that appealing. I'll be keeping up with you on your blog as you travel. By the way I really like that blog
website. I had to check it out and I may think of doing the same thing. Your photos are also commendable.
I do kind of envy you this journey. You make me think about how I could have handled my life differently after my divorce. Not that I am unhappy now, but the lure of the road has been strong all my life and now I realize how I could have made it possible. Fortunately for me I am remarried to a woman who shares my passion for life on the road and so in a few years we may bump into one another, along with Bob and Stoney and maybe a few others by then. I'm no stranger to RV's but I always feel I can learn more. Hopefully your blog will teach me more things that I ought to know. By the way I think it is so cool that you are towing your T with you where ever you go. You are really living the good life now. Please stay in touch and I will be monitoring your travels closely for each new adventure. By the way, I would have responded to your Blog site but you do not have it set up for responses.

Alain ~ I just checked the settings on the blog to make sure anyone can make comments. At the bottom of each post you can click on "Comments". You
may then add a comment as an "anonymous". You will have to type in the matching set of alpha characters to get it published. Let me know if you still
have a problem and I will contact Google for resolution. Other friends and family members have been able to add comments and anyone can read those, too.

Scott: Your blog is fantastic. You have a real talent for conveying your thoughts and feelings into words. I had better not get too warm and fuzzy or Dan
will get his panties in a bunch. Anyway, great job and keep traveling and writing. I have read you entire blog and I am hooked.
You use the same host as I do. My site is Now What Are They Doing? OK, that was a shameless pug, I admit. I have some ads on my site that allow for a bit of income when someone clicks on them. Keeps me in beer money. Again Scott, keep writing as I do love travel adventures! Bob

Bob, Thanks for the kind words. I just spent a few minutes looking at your blog. Very Good! Keep it up but don't feel obligated to post everyday. I am a
member of blogging without obligation. I write for myself, when I feel like it. Keep on blogging!

I pinch myself to make sure it's real. Being able to retire at 55 is not something everyone has the opportunity to do, so I need to take full advantage of
it. It keeps getting better.

The heart of Texas may have stolen my heart. I was looking at real estate in the area last night. Koyote Ranch is the perfect place for an event like thunder
in the hills, but the sign says they are biker friendly - I think they are biker rip offs. I don't know if $39 is a lot in this area, but it's more
than I've spent per night anyplace else. $3.86 for a gallon of gas at their pumps, $3.19 just 20 miles away in Kerrville. The park is beautiful, the spaces
large, the help (Gloria) surly. They have cabins and lots of tent spaces. They think they have a monopoly - they don't. Shop around - there are lots of
parks in the area. I'm just outside of Houston tonight, then on to Lake Charles for a week before heading to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Scott and Bob, I've just spent an enjoyable couple of hours perusing your blogs. I love reading the "slice of life" stuff. Kudos to both of you.
What a great journey you're taking, Scott. Bob...you are soooo Bob in your blog. Love those lil' terriers.
I totally agree with you, Scott, about "blogging without obligation"! I post in my blog whenever I feel like it, or whenever I have time, or whenever the stars are aligned correctly and certain birds sing in my yard and it's a Tuesday during a full moon(you get the idea)...!! LOL Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!
