Thanks Fred & Dan for the extra information. I did have some concerns about handling, and the mpgs I'm hearing from you sound more in line with what a heavy, carbureted bike would probably get. That Venture is over 800 pounds dry.
I'm starting to get the impression that I may already have the right bike for me--and as my wife keeps reminding me: "It's already paid for!"

Dan, the cruise control for the Valk looked pretty good. That would definitely have me considering a Valk Interstate/Motor Trike conversion again. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to add a trike, the crappy real estate market has forced me to watch my pennies a lot closer than I had wanted to. My initial plans were not to swap two wheels for three, but to add a trike to my fleet of toys and set up the T as a solo bike. Also, I wanted something that could take a heavy tongue weight on the back without going through a rear tire once a year. I'd still like to do that some day, but.....

In early June we have our state CMA rally. Last year there were a couple of guys who had pretty big pop-up trailers. (One of them even had a small air conditioner along for the pop-up.) They had each fabricated a tow dolly. It had a very short tongue, an axle with 2-8" wheels, a platform on top of the axle for carrying stuff, and a hitch ball for attaching their trailers. It looked a little odd, but they succeeded in shifting the tongue weight from the bike to the dolly. Both of their pop ups had trailer brakes. One of them offered to send me the plans last year, but I lost his phone number. If I get the plans this year I'll post them up, along with pics, to the trailer and towing thread.
