Clearview Shield Question

HSATF Member Posts: 16 04/22/08 8:30 PM	Tags : None Finally got my ACE tourer Honda brackets!! Only took 5 weeks. Installed them today but needed to modify the mounting by getting a longer bolt that mounts the bracket to the triple clamp (stock is a 20mm, I needed a 25mm) and had to use about 6 washers to take up the slack. When I tried to install it with the clamps flush against the triple clamp, the brackets on the shield were too low!! I have the Clearview shield that is the "Valk cut" but everything is supposed to line up. All is well now but it was unusual. Any one care to try to explain?

HSATF Member Posts: 16 04/23/08 7:02 PM	Nope. They are a good 1-1.25 inches lower off the triple clamp. I had to get longer bolts and fill the space with washers. For some reason (and I think it's the way the Clearview shield is drilled) when you seat the lower crossbar on the 2 bolts under the headlamp, the two upper brackets are too low if you have the fork brackets mounted flush against the triple clamp and have the "wing" that extends from the fork clamp bolted on to the bottom of the triple clamp the way it appears it was designed. The only way to resolve it was to do what I did, which seems to work. The height is good, I can see clearly over the shield and the "bad air" is above my head. Bad news today was that I needed to drop big $$ on tires for this baby. Went w/ Metzeler 880's. That's a different topic, but I welcome your feedback on both the shield and the tires.

HSATF Member Posts: 16 05/07/08 8:45 AM	Even Clearview doesn't know and I sent them pictures. It's almost like the hardware is too short or someone lowered the head lamp. But all else looks stock.

Could you send us some pics of the shield from the side front and back so that maybe we can see what the possible problem might be?
