Hello from Texas |
Lead | ||
|
Hello my fellow T riders? My name is Keith Gingrich I live in LaPorte Texas. I ride a 2000 Honda Shadow vt1100t I named her Sable and I believe it's the
best bike out there. I have only been riding a little over a year and I'm addicted. The comradery amongst the biker community is just awesome. My 2
brothers have been riding for years, my older brother has a 03 Honda Goldwing, younger brother has a 06 Yamaha Venture. The ladies in our family ride also my
girl has an 03 vtx1800 trike, older brothers wife has a Kawasaki 900 and my younger brothers girl has an 08 Suzuki C50t. So you can say riding is in our blood.
We all belong to the Blue Knights motorcycle club so we are very active in the community. I picked this bike primarily on the looks and the engine size, I
wanted my first bike to be used that I could pay cash for so heaven forbids I drop it I'm not having to make a payment on something I can't ride. I
love the old school look of my bike, the hard saddle bags were a real plus for me. I solo seated it and I think I probably have almost every piece of chrome
that is made for her lol. I installed blue accent lights throughout the entire bike starting at the from the front hub and ending at the taillights. It looks
like a big blue cloud going down the road at night. I install accent lights and dress out police bikes in my spare time, so all my family and friends bikes are
lit up like Christmas trees. The probably only upgrade I would like to do is change out my stock seat with an ultimate X, or a mustang seat. I just
haven't found that deal I couldn't pass up yet. I'm new to this site so I will post some before and after pictures soon so you guys can see the
transformation my bike has made over the past year. I think the information on this site is awesome. Have a great week and hopefully I will see you on the open
roads.

Hi Keith, welcome to the wonderful world of T ownership, and of course, to the T forum. Post those pics soon - it sounds like you've been having fun making
her your own.
I had lots of extra green and blue lights on my 600, but I would only run them when she was parked at a bike show. Is it legal to run blue lights on a bike in Texas? I thought that most states only allow LEO vehicles to run blue lights? I'm curious what the laws are on that, as I would sure love to run extra lighting on my T while riding. I know I've seen plenty of Wings lit up light a parade, and always wondered about the legalities of the lighting. As far as I'm concerned, the more visible we are, the better!! Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

Hi Dawn We all ride at night with the led accent lights on here, technocally they are for show not for on road use. 99% of the cops will not mess with you
because it does add added visibility at night but you will always have that 1% that has nothing else to do. My family and chapter members all ride with the
accent lights on I have not had nor has anyone I installed lights for come back and said that the police stopped them. Here the police run red and blue
flashing lights I don't have any of our light on flashers so they are just steady on.

Right on Galveston Bay! Cool. I just spent a week riding in the hills west of San Antonio. Loved it. Welcome to the group.

Howdy and welcome Keith.
Just down the road from you in Seabrook. There are a few other T owners in the greater Houston/Galveston area. Check out DaveFash's page on stuff we've done in the past. http://www.worldoutsource.com/houstontriders/

Hello Keith and welcome to the HSATF forum from upstate New York. I read with interest that you and your family ride with the Blue Knights Motorcycle club.
Doesn't that mean that you have to be in law enforcement to be a member? If that is the case then you tickled the Chazit out of me with your statment...
99% of the cops will not mess with you because it does add added visibility at night but you will always have that 1% that has nothing else to do.I think it is so kewl that your whole family rides. I can just imagine the conversations at family gatherings. Well I see that you're another souther rider and a Texan at that so I guess us northern riders will have to deal with another southern guy telling us how good the riding is in January and February. I just wish they weren't so many of you.
All kidding aside, you know I was kidding right? Welcome to the forum and I will look forward to 'talking' with you more in the future.

Welcome, from the state of Alabama. Don't come riding through south Alabama with those blue lights on. Here even the cops will stop other cops for running
blue lights. LOL We have a bunch of young greenhorn gun ho troopers that like to throw their weight around about stuff like that.

Yes sir I lived in Texas all my life my bike has not sat for more then a couple days since I bought it.
