Oh man, that is such a drag!
I sure hope the butthead stopped and gave you insurance info.
It's fiberglass...you really can fix it yourself if you can't find a replacement set of bags. Trust me, if I can work with fiberglass, anyone can. Go for it! Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

I'm thinking they are made of ABS plastic instead of fiberglass. ABS can be welded from the inside and then smoothed and painted to match. Any competent
body shop should be able to weld it for you, or you can buy a plastic welder from Harbor Freight for around $40 to do it yourself.

Aw Scott....that sucks. I agree it should be repairable. The damage is certainly small enough that the bag could be salvaged. I've repaired fiberglass
countless numbers of time and its doable. If these bags are ABS like Stan says then I don't know what to do to repair them. I hope that the information you
need comes forth from this forum.

Yeah, she had insurance. Just a bummer to deal with when I'm in Albuquerque and my favorite body shop is in Washington. We were stopped at a light and then
her foot slipped or something and she bumped me. The bags are ABS. I'll visit a Honda dealer tomorrow and get prices on parts. I'm not letting her off
cheap.

I sincerely apologize for mistaking they were fiberglass (mine have a fiberglass-y texture inside, I didn't know that's what ABS looks like on the
rough side).
At any rate, the damage is repairable, and best of all, YOU weren't hurt! Good luck with the repairs. Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

I checked with the local Honda parts department. The bags are available, already painted, for $679.98. That is minus the lid, gaskets, reflector, latch, hinge,
etc.
No need to apologize Dawn. Scott "Silence is golden, duct tape is silver" |

Mine were smooth and black on the inside. You don't suppose that these were as built both fiberglass and ABS versions, do you? You got my curiosity stirred
up now, Dawn.

Wow, Scott! Almost $700 bucks and none of the necessary doo dads? Yikes. Please tell me that's for a SET and not just one! I guess the good thing is that
they are available.
Stan, I just went down to the garage to check my bags, and lo and behold, they ARE smooth inside! So ABS they are! I guess I was thinking of the last bags I painted for a client. I get so many bike parts through my hands these days, it's hard to keep 'em all straight in my easily-distracted artist mind!
I hereby do solemnly swear and promise to check my own bike before I jump in on "fix it's" again! Thanks to y'all for not jumping on my case... Live It, Love It, Paint It, Ride It!

That is for one saddlebag body with nothing attached.

Don't tell the insurance company! That's a nice site - thanks! The way I read it, the saddlebag alone is $511. That's still cheaper than the
dealer. My problem is that I'm on the road and need to be able to pick up the item in a timely manner. We'll see after the adjuster settles things.
