It seems that most of the participants on this board are in the more northern or eastern/south eastern parts of the USA. With a few exceptions, of course. That
being the case, a lot is posted here about the roads in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, etc. Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway (my personal favorite road
in the world!). I have ridden these roads. They are beautiful. Cherohala Skyway is nice. Deal's Gap is pretty. Rode the "Tail Of The Dragon". It
was fun!! Didn't see much of the scenery, but the Goldwing in front of me was nice. Right Stan!!
Not much is mentioned here about the Natchez Trace Parkway. So I thought I'd share a little. It's not as breathtaking as the Blue Ridge Parkway. It
doesn't have the scenic vistas, but it's a beautiful, laid back ride.
The Natchez Trace Parkway is a designated National Scenic Byway administered by the National Park Service. It is 444 miles long and runs from Natchez
Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee and clips the northwestern corner of Alabama. It is 400 miles of gentle slopes and curves with about 44 miles of fairly
good twisties at the northern end. There is no commercial traffic allowed on the Trace. No trucks, buses, etc. The speed limit is 50 MPH. Except for a few
locals that use the road regularly, and your garden variety @sshole that thinks the rules don't apply to them, the speed limit is observed fairly well.
Making for a very nice ride.
I won't go into the history of the Trace, you can find that online. That history is very interesting. You should look it up. The road, which was began in the 1930's and finished in 2005, follows and old Bison migration trail that was used through the years for a lot of foot traffic for a lot of different reasons. The parkway itself basically follows a foot path that was used by merchants returning north after selling there goods in New Orleans and selling the boats that they used to float the good down river. You can pull off and see that original path at numerous places along the road.
There is only one service station on the Trace. When we rode up the Trace in April, that station was out of gas!! For all services, you will have to exit
and go to one of the nearby towns. One could spend several days getting off the parkway and taking in all the historical attractions along the way. We have
ridden it from north to south and from south to north, but not spent a lot of time investigating the attractions. I'm more into riding that walking!!
We started out with a couple of guys following us!!
Nice flowers.
How did they get arounds us?
Ross Barnett Reservoir
Ditto
A walk down the original trace
More flowers
Different flowers
There they are again!!
Their are some farm fields along the way

In Tupelo, MS
We stood on his porch, but nobody was home
Oh well. More road
There are some wide open spaces in between the forests
Meriweather Lewis of "Lewis and Clark" fame is buried near the end of the Trace
The Loveless Cafe on Hwy 100 in Nashville. Whether you start here with breakfast or end here with supper, you just haven't ridden the Natchez Trace Parkway
without it.
Investigat the NTP. There are a lot of interesting things to do in that area.
Hope this is not too long!!

We are going a day or so early to ride
a bit while in the area. But the Hoot doesn't start until the same day as the other trade show. (Tired of riding around SW Michigan)
