I rode a Spirit the other day and really liked the gearing. I never go two up, so the extra grunt on the bottem end really does not get used much. And the 1100 engine, for me, is more than big enough.
Am I just nuts?

With my T getting on up in mileage (50k) I am starting to think about a possible replacement when the time comes and I was wondering since the Spirit is so
close to the T, they even share the same shop manual, would it be possible to take all of the pluses from the T (windshield and bags) and bolt them on to the
Spirit? I would think that the suspension would need to remain the same, but since the engine is so similar I thought I could use the T exaust on a spirit and
move the bags on over.

Of course, I would change out everything I could. I just don't ever recall anyone else on the forum talking about doing this. I just figured, after the
duct tape and bailing wire stops working, I would really like a bike very similar to the one I have. That should be a while off, and Honda seems to have sold a
$&%*load of Spirits. Maybe it's just crazy talk.

do you remember Halfbreed? built from an '01 spirit. it had a harley rear fender, and indian spirit front fender plus many parts from other bikes.

You're talking about a LOT of work. The T has disc brakes on the rear while a Spirit has a drum. You'd need the T swingarm, driveshaft, rear axle and
fender plus the bags, bag supports and exhaust. Also, the Spirit has the polished motor, which I don't think looks as good as the T's black and chrome
motor.
I think you'd be better off just buying another T or if you're engine's getting tired, try to find a Sabre engine/tranny.

Hopefully, your T will be fine for another 50k. There really isn't any reason it shouldn't be. It's not a high strung race engine nor a 2-smoke that should require a rebuild with normal usage. If the day came when you had to make a decision on what to do, I would think either a tear down and rebuild or swapping in another engine would be the preferred approach over trying to make a T from a Spirit. Would that be like making a silk purse from a sow's ear? (no offense meant to the Spirit
owners on this forum).
