So Dad decides to skip the long group ride on Tuesady since his dislocated toe is bugging him a bit, and decides instead to take a short ride around the Townsend area. He stops to take some pics, and then rides a bit more, and then sees a sign for US129. He figures he'll just ride to the Deal's Gap resort area and look around, buy some trinkets...so he hops onto 129, and starts riding.
He keeps looking for some signs to direct him to the Dragon. The road gets really curvy, and then even curvier, and he scrapes his floorboards, thinking, 'geez, if the Dragon is curvier than this, then I don't think I'm gonna ride it'.
So he get to the Deal's Gap store, pokes around a bit, looks around for any indication of where to hop on the Dragon and suddenly sees a map of the Dragon...LOLOLOL...he had just ridden it and didn't even know it!!
He was sooooo STOKED that he had done it, and rode back the way he came with a great story to tell to his gang when he got back to the hotel.
I was quite tickled to see Dad pull into our driveway today. He rode 334 miles today. He has put on mega miles on this trip, riding from Menasha, WI, to Townsend, TN, and now to Danville, VA. "Not bad for an old fart", as he says!
We're heading up to Roanoke tomorrow to see Dixie Caverns to meet a friend for lunch, and will stay overnight, then on to Natural Bridge on Saturday, and we'll hit the BRP during the week. We took a very short ride tonight (our first time ever riding together because he just got his "M" last summer), and it was such a weird and wonderful experience to be tailgunner behind my Pa!
It's gonna be a FUN week!

(When he was first talking about getting a motorcycle, I said, NOT until you take the MSF course, view the Ride Like a Pro video
and order David Hough's books - and he really learned alot from all of it!)
