alain, wasn't it your brother who just bought a yamaha venture? i'm going to look at an '89 with 40k one owner miles in the morning. i know
nothing about them. just wondered if you could tell me if there's anything specific to that bike i should look for?

hey scott,
guess it's not any surprise anymore! i really thought i'd just get along with the drop top, but then i go out on the highway and see bikes all over the place and realize the drop top just isn't the same. i'm going to try an air ride suspension and if my back still gives me problems, guess then i will have to give it up. i burnt 10 bucks worth of gas tonight to go look at an older 'wing, and it turned out to be a piece of crap. guy said paint was good, chrome was good, tires were good...well, none of that was true. i wouldn't have brought it home for anything. pictures sure lie. the venture i'm going to look at is even further...150 mile round trip....but i feel it is a nicer bike. guy said it had always been kept inside and it's an '89 with only 40k miles. if it turns out to be a piece of crap too, i'll probably give up 'til something just falls in my lap. in the past, i've had a couple real nice old 'wings, but bought them strictly to re-sell. now that i want one to ride, can't find it. bud |

but guess i'm commited now. turned out to be one of those deals i just couldn't pass on. '89 one owner venture royale with 40k miles, looks new, and has more "bells and whistles" than you can imagine....electronic cruise, stereo, cb, on board air compressor, and everything works. has some history on those miles too. 35k miles were put on the bike touring old mexico. for 12 years, the guy and some friends trailered to the texas/mexico border and then rode on into mexico. he gave me a map of all the roads they'd traveled...looked like every road in mexico and all up and down the coast and the gulf. i'm sure the bike will be more comfortable for me once i'm on the road, but just getting a big bike in and out of my drive is a huge chore. i'm going to have to figure out something. bud |
