Checked out the diesel pumps yesterday, they were at $4.57. Last time I filled up it was $4.79. I budgeted $5/gal for our trip.
At this rate, I might be able to afford live bait, and a night out at MCdonalds or KFC.

Filled up the T @ $3.89/gal yesterday. The next gas station two miles down the road was $3.87. Bob, we're headed your way, so we may get to stay under
$4/gal for the little pickup.

I feel for you, Stony. Gas prices have really effected how we do things here in Connecticut. I had to drive to Stamford, CT yesterday for a doctor's visit.
I saw three stations were the cost of regular was over $4.65. I didn't see the cost of deisel to report to you. That's higher than the local stations
in my town because that's where the highest traffic of vacationers travel. Locally, we're around $4.30 How's that for price gouging? I keep seeing
the state's Attorney General saying he is clamping down on price gouging, but I just don't see it. Bottom line? We aren't having a summer vacation
this year.

Regular dropped again here, now $3.89. Diesel is still $4.99. What's up with that?

On the news today it was predicted that gas would drop another 25c by Labor Day. I don't know about that. Gas usually goes up 25c on Holidays around here,
and I know what's up with that.

Our news said tonight that the Attorney General's office is being overwhelmed with calls and emails demanding to know why gas hasn't gone down but a
couple of cents while oil prices have dropped over $20 a barrel since the 10th. People here are getting pissed. My closest gas station is a Gulf; $4.31 today.

$3.62 per gallon today. Prices are going in the right direction.
I remember as a college student saying "when gas hits 50 cents per gallon...I'm walkin". Well...it did and I didn't. Bob |

does gas always go down a little before exxon-mobile's quarterly earnings report, or is it just me thinking that.
exxon-mobile's newest quarterly profit amounts to $15,000 per second....almost 12 billion bucks!!! |

Pretty crazy...where will this all end? The lower prices came to a halt this morning.
Last night gas was $3.55 per gallon. This morning it was $3.70 per gallon. Who sneezed causing this latest jump? Bob |

I filled up the T @ $3.69/gal yesterday near Patk Rapids, MN.
On the way up I had to fuel up the diesel only once. It was $4.44/gal. That's the lowest price I've seen since April. In the park Rapids area diesel has dropped to $4.49 from $4.71. in the last week. It's almost time to re-fuel the boat. My four-stroke won't run right on anything but premium, and I have a 27 gallon tank. I used to teach math, but I think I would need Fred and Tony to calculate the co$t of the walleye dinner I had last night. I just sent in my application/resume/references to four area school districts today. My plan is to be a substitute teacher in the fall and spring to help pay for the fuel for our winter travels. I talked to my friend, Bob, last night. He and his wife are our RV travel buddies. He picked up some consultant work to help pay for fuel this winter. I am also looking into becoming an Internet teacher. One outfit only needs you to be available on line from 10-2 five days a week, and the pay is way better than subbing. The fuel crunch may get us to stop travelling, but not without exhausting all other possibilities.

Bobhey bob, just didn't think it was right with you guys having such cheap gas, so i made a couple phone calls last night to exxon-mobile. told them they could make a little more profit if they raised prices in your area bud

Thanks, Fred.
Gary, after hearing the prices in Connecticut, I'm glad we got to see your state last fall. We really enjoyed the "walking weekends" and our trip to Mystic. Back then diesel was around $3.00/gal--sigh!

Gas Prices.... | #59 | ||
There is no doubt... gas prices have changed our recreational life.
Last summer Holly and I would take the Miata for a nightly cruise, nothing long, maybe 30-50 miles round trip. This year we plan our trips and have limited
ourselves to a trip or two on the weekends only.
Prices around here are all over the place. Some as high at 4.09 and then as low as 3.67 within ten miles. Who would have thought we would/could get excited about paying 3.67 a gallon. I guess someone has to pony up the money, otherwise Exxon cannot boast their quarterly earnings of 11.7 billion dollars (and still disappoint the investors????). As for other impacts... my sister, an avid motorhome camper, has not taken her rv out of storage this year. She says it's just too expensive to enjoy. Andy |
