I owned a Black/Cream T in Lake Havasu City AZ. On a trip to Oatman AZ, I saw the Pearl Jade Green/Cream combo and loved it! Little did I know, a few years
later, I'd be riding the G/C T. The G/C combo has such a classic look...like an old 57 Chevy.

paul50 wrote: Paul.....you are considerably further north than I am here in upstate New York. Looking at a map I realize that you must live near the vicinity of Sparrow Lake. I remember as a boy my parents taking us there for a family vacation. I believe the place might have been called Clipsom Lodge. It was a very memorable experience and so totally unlike something that my father would have done. I remember we rode in a boat and I saw a lock that actually raises the boat instead of raising and lowering the water level.

You are right Al. I am about a 30 min ride from Sparrow Lake. That lodge doesn't sound familiar, but there are lots of little places that I don't know
of and that have changed names or sold out to "bigger and better" or so they think. The locks you remember is called the Kirkfield lift locks. It is
part of the Trent canal system. It is about an hour and a bit away from me. We ride right by there often and sometimes stop and watch the boats go through! It
is quite something to see, espesially when you consider the age of the locks and the fact that they still work exactly as they did years ago!

Hi Al, I was thinking about the boat lift thing and thought that the other place your father might have taken you in the area is what is called "The Big
Chute". It is also a part of the trent system that actually lifts the boats out of the water on a big cradle type of devise, and moves them up or down to
the next level on a railway track . This is also about an hour and a bit from me.

Paul....I did a google search and looked at the photos of both places you mentioned. I don't really know which one I saw. It was probably the one closest
to Sparrow Lake. My other recollection of that day was this. Right after we watched the lock working my Dad tried to start the small outboard and it would not
fire. So my Dad broke out the oars and started to row us back. I was amazed as a young lad because I knew nothing about rowing a boat. That and I had never
seen me Dad do anything quite so strenuous. As he rowed I looked at the water and I panic when I saw snakes in the water. A lot of them. My father was also
intrigued by the fact that there were so many snakes.
Well my Dad rowed that boat all the way back to the Lodge where we were staying and he never took us out in a boat again. That had to have been 50 years ago. That one vacation on Sparrow Lake filled me with so many memories, that I wish my parents had done that more often with us kids. I so enjoyed that one vacation that after I got married and had children of my own, I made it a point to go camping with my children from the moment of their birth (3 weeks old) until they were in their 20's.

Al, the name of the lodge you were at is actually "Clipsham Lodge" I think. Google "Clipsham Lodge Sparrow Lake" and you will find some
interesting photos you might recognize! Also a little history about the area and the family who owned it!
You are right about the snakes. That area was, and still is known for an abundant snake population, especially rattle snakes!! My wife's family had a cottage in the area when she was young and she still remembers her brothers catching snakes and throwing them at her! Paul |

Mine is the red/black combo and am very happy with it. But I'd be tempted to switch if I could get my hands on one of the dark green and cream colored
T's.
