Okay guys and gals, let's start getting down to some serious planning for Americade. My plans are pretty simple. I'm going to Americade to:
a) Spend time with fellow forum members. b) Because we don't have demo rides (for the most part) in CT, get in a couple of demo rides. c) Check out the Million $ Beach and Expo locations. d) I didn't sign up for any rides, but I do enjoy riding about the Adirondacks, I really would like a ride with my forum buddies if we can set one up. So far, my itinerary draft looks like: June 1: Check into Red Roof at Glens Falls, check into Americade at the Holiday Inn, re-familiarize myself with the area, meet up with forum members at 1800 (That's 6:00 P.M. for you civilians. Alain, the big hand will be on the twelve and the little hand will be on the six.) at the Raintree Restaurant. Meet hooker at hotel. June 2: Get up early, fill thermos with coffee, go to demo ride sign- ups, hopefully meet up with a forum member for breakfast, spend day going to Million dollar beach, or Expo, and/or demo rides. Hopefully meet up with forum members for supper/evening comradery. Meet hooker at hotel. June 3: Get up early, fill thermos with coffee, go to demo ride sign- ups, hopefully meet up with a forum member for breakfast, spend day going to Million dollar beach, or Expo, and/or demo rides. Hopefully meet up with forum members for supper/evening comradery. Meet hooker at hotel. June 4: Hopefully have set up a ride through the Adirondacks with some forum members, or Get up early, fill thermos with coffee, go to demo ride sign- ups, hopefully meet up with a forum member for breakfast, spend day going to Million dollar beach, or Expo, and/or demo rides. Check out of hotel and head home thinking about good times spent with friends and hookers in the hotel. (You guys do know I'm joking about the hookers......don't you?)

Hi All,
Here is the directions I was taking you a few years back to Lake Placid and through Saranac Lake. Get a NY map and plot it out if you want to take it. From Lake George I took the Adirondack Northway route 87 North to Keene Valley exit 30. Get off ramp and take a left onto 73 and ride it all the way to Lake Placid. When you come to town at the stop light take a left route 86. Lake Placid is a good place to stop for lunch and take in a few shops.. Continue on route 86 till you come to route 3 in Saranac Lake, take a left or head south till you come to route 30 in the town of Tupper Lake. Ride south on Route 30 till you come to the town of Long lake and take the left or east on route 28n through Newcomb till you run into route 28 in the town of North Creek. Then ride 28 right to route 9 south into the town of Warrensburg and back to Lake George. It's a good 6 hour trip concidering a lunch break. Suggest leave 10am, your easy an 1 1/2 from Lake placid with no stops. That's why I take the route 87 first to get a jump on the time. You can also start on route 9 and ride it till you hit 73. It will just add 1/2 hour to the trip. Hope you all get to take it and enjoy the run. NYMark99

You da man, Mark. That was a great trip back then. If others are interested, I sure wouldn't mind doing it again. The Lake Placid Olympics are still a
vivid memory to me. I watched countless hours of it on TV. Getting to see the Flame site, the ski jumps, and the sled runs was real treat for me. Thank you
again for those memories and for these directions.

Whew....I just got my call from Carey's Lakeside Motel in Bolton's Landing telling me that they have my old room again for Americade. Now I can relax
and begin to think about enjoying myself again. My brother Phil (Trollsabre) and his SO are going to be staying at a motel in Hague, NY and my son will be
camping with his new bride just down the road from me at the NYS camp grounds.
I was a little concerned about my kids camping for thier first years at Americade, because it can get quite unpredictable in the Adirdondacks as far as foul weather goes. At least now I'll have a nice dry room should they need a little shelter if we get one or more of those all day soakers. Come on Americade....I am ready to go.

Hi everyone , Well this will be my sixteenth Americade and I can't wait. I still haven't gotten tired of it though. I couldn't get into my old room
at Carey's in Bolton's Landing this year I found a good alternative in Hague a beautiful place called the Trout house.They have rooms at all different
prices and 400 ft. of beach front on the northern end of the lake.They have 4 motel rooms, a main house with rooms there and cabins on a hill overlooking the
lake . Its 30 miles up the lake but Rt. 9n is as close to heaven as you can get on a motorcycle. After Boltons Landing is gets even twister . For those coming
through the Adirondack park just stay on Rt.8 all the way to the end . It drops you right off in Hague and the Hotel is just a left turn and 300 yds
away.Couldn't be any easier.
I'm sorry I'll be missing you guys for the dinner Tuesday night. The new lady in my life has limited vacation time and so we decided to make it up for the end of the week. We will be on the Kawasaki boat Thursday night so if any member is going to be on that boat let us know so we can get together while eating. I hope we'll be running into you guys at the Tour expo or the Roaring Brook Ranch Thursday or Friday. I may try to get my "new" to me 85 Venture Royale into the Progressive Suspension tent to have some badly needed springs installed. Of course my girlfriend will be at every jewelry counter there is but that's okay. We may save friday for a ride up into the mountains I hope someone might want to come along its always fun to ride with friends. A couple of friends from my Venture site might be riding up and I hope we can make one more dinner together. If I don't see any of you, ride safe, have fun, and those from out of State welcome back to New York and the Adirondack. |

The buzzing has already started for this years 27th Annual Americade to be held in Lake George, New York this coming June 1st thru 6th, 2009.
Many of you already know much about this event, but for those of you who don't, there is just too much to tell you, so instead I'll give you the link to the Americade Website and let you read for yourself. The Americade also maintains an Americade Message Board that has a lot of detailed information about all aspects of the event from a participants point of view. As is my custom I'll create and maintain a list of the HSATF forum members who have announced that they are planning to attend with the dates of their arrival and departure. This is a week long event and many members only stay for a portion of the event. 2009 Americade attendee list updated: May 6th, to remove "jense" from the list of attendees. * alepel - NY - May 31st. to June 6th.
* CleRider - OH - May 31st to June 3rd
* Fredrider - SC - May 31st. to June 3rd.
* guns90 - CT - June 1st to June 4th.
* maniac317 - ME - May 31st. to June 6th.

My plans for the first part of Americade week: Sat - Cle to Frederick, MD to catch up with Fred, Tony and others. Sun - MD to NY ride with the gang. I have
reservations at the Country Inn & Suites in Queensbury (next to Great Fun Land) through Wednesday AM. Looking forward to Tuesday night dinner and some
rides into NH &VT.
On the bike front... still building my Yamaha Royal Star T. Got a couple of large, leather saddlebags, new windshield, 12vdc power point outlet and tank bag. Still have my touring luggage setup from my T. Changed out the brake fluid, coolant and oil. Sync'd the carbs and this bike moves. Before the carb sync, it was running like a single pin v-twin. After the sync, I have not gotten beyond third gear; actually on the freeway, while in 3rd, I approached triple digits. Andy |

For you guys that have been to the last couple of Americades, did Honda have its demo team there? I notice that they don't have it in the line-up this
year. Is that usual, or are they claiming to be hurting so much that they aren't coming this year?

My questions are about Registration, getting into the Tour Expos and Demo Rides. Although I have been to Americade twice (2004 & 2006) I forget the
details and the website also seems to be lacking details as well.
I did not pre-register and the Americade website says post-entry registration starts Tuesday at 8 am. What about Monday? No Expos? No Demo Rides? I remember that I did not register at all in 2006, but still rode H-D's & Yamahas. I also went to the Expos. Are there day passes like at the Honda Hoot? It seems a lot of demo teams dropped out including Honda, Triumph, BMW, Aprilia, Ducati and Suzuki. What a shame.

Gary, Honda & also BMW have been at every Americade I've attended and I've gone every year since 2000. The old timers will tell you it basicly
started as a Honda Goldwing rally. They will really be missed if they don't show. Alot of people I'm sure were looking forward to trying the new Honda
FURY.
Fred, Monday sign up is for pre-registered Americaders only. Monday is the slow day for sure, no demos, they start on Tues, Tour Expo as well. In years past they did have single day passes for Americade, see no reason they won't this year and of course you can get into Tour Expo by paying at the gate. Sadly it does look like things will be downsized this year after growing annually. Example: Tour Expo is only listed at being "expanded at the Million Dollar Beach", no mention of the Convention Center being the second venue as it was the last few years. And holy cow your right, Honda, Triumph & BMW not listed!? Even Moto Guzzi was there last year. However I only remember Aprilia being there once, Ducati maybe twice. Thank goodness Victory is planing to show. They were not mentioned in the earlier ads. Suzuki was absent last year but newcomer KTM was there for the first time in 2008. By the way, KTM was Richie's favorite Demo in 2008. They gave away nice KTM T shirts with each demo. He got 3 free T shirts to prove it. Gotta love that Super Duke!

Rich,
I rode a KTM for the first time in February. That was their 950cc Enduro which is the first bike I have ever ridden where I could not get my feet flat on the ground. Would love to try their Super Duke. Ever since I drove my car on the western portion of US 2 in Mass. back when I used to live in Mass. (1993-98) I have wanted to ride a bike on that road. I may have to do that on Monday. I was also hoping to try one of the leaning 3-wheeled Paggios. That's another absent manufacturer... Thanks for all the input.

Things could change as far as the demo's go. I recall being surprised in past years when certain manufacturers where not listed and then showing up.
Triumph was one, the old Gilroy, CA. Indian Co. another. We'll just have to wait and see.
