does anyone have any solutions to the short kickstand? These bikes lay over way too far in certain places and it makes it dificult to level out the bike.
Thanks for your help!

Carry a small block of wood with you for those times when you are parking the bike on a downslope. How about a 4" long 2 by 4?

The T of course does not come with a center stand and consequently you never really know how full the tank really is. I wouldn't trust myself to fill the tank while straddling the bike unless someone was there to hang up the nozzle for me. So I've debated taking my little 2 by 4 block with me to prop the bike a little more upright for filling purposes. Maybe this really isn't worth it. The question is how much more gas can you get into the tank? I suppose that needs to be tested. Fill the tank with the bike leaning on its kickstand, then level the bike and top off the tank and see how much more gas can be added to top it off. If we're not talking that much then the whole point is useless. I have one question of those of you who do have the Rivco center stand. Can you change your oil with the center stand in place? How hard is to to change your oil with the Rivco center stand mounted to the T?

The rivco center stand does not interfere with the oil change. I still use the sidestand when draining the oil to ensure I get it all out, then put the plug
back in put it on the center, tighten the drain plug and then change the filter. I even use the longer filter PL14610 IIRC and have no clearance issues.

Try turning the handlebars to the right.
I use a 2x4 under the kickstand when parked in the garage, but I think it sits the bike up too close to upright to be secure in the wind or where it might be bumped. When out and about, I just let it lean over. I've had the bike parked out in some serious squalls and it has never blown over. But I also carefully choose which direction to face it knowing there is a strong storm coming. Finally, check your kickstand nut is not too loose! Yes, there should be some play in it, but check to see the nut has not backed itself off (although it is a self-locking nut).

hey can you post a pic of your center stand i would like to see if that is something i want to install on my bike. On another note i realize that a 2x4 piece
of wood would help make the bike not lean over so much but wouldnt it defeat the purpose having to get off the bike to get the wood and then back on again?

I currently use a 3/4" thick 2" x4" maple wood block with a long shoe string attached. I drilled a 1/4" hole for the string to pass
through. I tied a loop on the free end. I can loop the free end over my grip, and drop the block down to be placed in position with my foot. When I leave, I
just pull the string and wrap it back around the block for storage in my tank bib pocket. The 3/4" thickness is the perfect size for both Wing and
cruiser.

bamaTrider wrote:Stan....in my earlier posting I had offered practically the same idea up as a suggestion for what I am going to do, but with a 2 by 4. But I deleted it because quite frankly I was a little emabarassed to mention I was doing this. So now that I know you are doing this, I won't feel as though I'm the only one. My plan was to put the block under the kickstand just before I fuel up and then take it off before I climbed back on. now all i need to do is find a tank bib i suppose. I once ran into a fellow biker that had cut out a section of truck tire shrapnel that he had picked up off the interstate. He cut a 2" by 4" oval pad
out of the tread portion of a piece that still had lots of tread left. It was about 3/4 to 1" thick which made it just right for a parking pad (with
grip). If you use wood, then make sure it's hardwood, or else a softer wood can split too easily under pressure.

My hubby cut a piece of metal bar and attached it to the kickstand. It sure makes it easier for me to hoist the bike upright now! (For parking on soft ground,
I just carry the lid of a small paint can and slip it under the kickstand.)

I was thinking of gluing some Velcro to the underside of the kickstand and attaching a 3/4" think piece of rubber to it.
You think Velcro would stay attached? |

i like the idea of the rubber on the bottom of the kickstand i just wish there was a way to do it without making holes in the actual stand. Thanks for your
help.

How about slipping a piece of hose over the entire end. I doubt that glue or velcro would hold up to any real use stuck to the bottom of the stand. I will try
a piece of hose over the end, it should hold without screws or bolts if tight enough, won't hurt the chrome if you take it off and wax once in a while and
will give the stand more grip. Still will need something for parking on hot blacktop or soft ground.
